The Toy Machine tour was cancelled do to some serious and unpreventable circumstances. Ed Templeton bruised his heel severely at SCJ, then on tour he knocked his head pretty badly and spent a couple nights in the hospital. Doctor says that chronic and painful headaches are expected for weeks. Brian Anderson had a family emergency, his father passed away. Elissa Steamer was having some leg problems and left the tour to see her doctor and filmer/photographer Dave Hoang’s girlfriend of several years was killed in a car accident. Due to the circumstances and rather than having a team of bummed out fellows, Ed decided to cancel the last 4 stops of the tour. Time will heal and they will be ready to rock twice as hard next year.   Understanding and feeling their plight, the Foundation team Kris Markovich, Daniel Shimizu, Justin Roy and Charlie Thomas rallied together and decided to help out and finished 3 of the 4 remaining demos.

Jason Ellis just finished up with the West coast section of Tony Hawk’s

super tour and is already gearing up to finish off the tour on the East Coast. Jason could be heard on the mike with his usual antics and witty comments. He also found some time to throw in a few skateboard stunts during the tour. Also rumored was some sky jumping and a little ice hockey.

Rodney Jones is back from Baltimore and has been busy shooting photos with Rhino for certain magazines and for his sponsors advertising needs. Rodney will spend his first month of the summer at skatecamps in Illinois and Texas.

Gianni Zattoni recently went to Munich, Germany for a contest and has been M.I.A ever nce. What are the odds of meeting a beautiful girl and falling in love? Better yet what are the odds of meeting a girl, falling in love, and finding out she has the same last name as you. Gianni Zattoni beat the odds and is dating a Zattoni.

The Alphanumeric team has had a very busy spring 2001. The skate team just returned from a road trip that jumped off in Washington cruised through Vancouver and back. While in Washington, the A# family attended the “Sound and Fury” amateur skate contest Seattle. The first lady of A#, Ms. Jaime Reyes took third place in her division and amateur Danny Wallace got his winning “Best Trick” overall. After Seattle it was time to head north to Vancouver, Canada where Jaime took third again and further reminded us why she she’s about to have a signature pro shoe for Gallas/Globe shoes. Spencer Fujimoto skated well, as did Colt Cannon who, in his very first pro contest, came in second place to Eric Koston. Congratulations to Colt! Mr. Cannon is currently on his way to Finland to link up with A# UK team rider John Rattray. Next month members of the skate team will be hitting the streets and contest circuit in Europe. They will be spending time in England, Germany, Holland, Spain and anywhere else the road may take them!

There is a new contest on the DVS site. It’s a cross promotion with the CCS e-zine. Kids have to write a Haiku (remember from elementary school?) about a DVS team rider or favorite shoe and they can win a Daewon Bench and a pair of shoes. The entries will be judged by three mystery judges. Tell your friends about this and spread the word.  http://www.dvsshoecompany.com

Then a week later he took off for Woodward for a night and then off to an Onboard Entertainment demo in Boston. Then back to Woodward where he is at right now.

Not to mention his other stops this month in L.A., San Jose, and Santa Cruz. This and finishing his filming for the Black Label video kept him busy. The Black Label video premiered May 29th in Encinitas. Matt’s got a shoe in the works for a spring 2002 release date. It should be a great skate shoe with a lot of classic Hensley appeal. It is going to be called the Gambler. It is a classic cup-sole construction with a full grain leather and split suede upper. It has a real classic skate shoe appeal to it. Something that you can see Hensley in.

Tommy Budjanec has been back from Costa Rica for a little bit. He is getting over being sick. He did show up at the Ocean Snow demo a week or so ago and ripped. He is out filming and shooting for more stuff. He also will be traveling a lot this summer. Look for him in the southwest in the middle to end of this month.

Omar Salazar is still recovering from knee surgery. He’s out doing what the doctor says. We all wish him the best and a speedy recovery.
