Hundreds of skateboarding fans, kids and parents alike, turned out for Sunday’s autograph session at the San Diego Hall of Champions Museum. Guests not only got a chance to meet action-sport professionals like skateboarders Andy Macdonald and Tony Hawk, surfer Rob Machado, and street luger Biker Sherlock, but also got the first-look at the exhibit San Diego Ground Zero.
“It’s cool to see how many people turned up even in the rain,” said Macdonald at the opening. “It was a great opportunity to hang out with the kids, sign some autographs for them and answer their questions about the exhibit.”
Over 500 people showed up at the opening lining up on two floors of the museum to patiently wait for their favorite pro’s autograph. The museum’s gift store was packed and overflowing with guests purchasing T-shirts, Tech-Decks, books, posters, and anything else that they could get signed by the pros.
The San Diego Ground Zero exhibit highlights six sports that trace their roots to San Diego. It will be on display through June 29. For more information, contact the Hall of Champions at 619-234-2544.
