Chandler Skatepark

4500 South Basha Rd., Chandler, AZ 85244

Chandler, a 33,000-square-foot park, has been reported to be the best skatepark in Arizona and features ledges, two bowls, rails, banks, quarterpipes, and pyramids. For directions, call Chandler Parks and Rec. department at: (480) 782-2727.

Freestone Park

Guadalupe Rd. at Lindsay Rd., Gilbert, AZ

This 23,000-square-foot Site Design Group-built concrete park is rumored to rival the company’s masterpiece in Chandler, Arizona. Freestone features a street plaza and two bowls. As an added bonus, no pads are required to skate.

Nogales Skatepark

Nogales, AZ

A street plaza and competition-style combi bowl flow over 16,000 square feet. Built by Site Design Group.

Paradise Valley Skatepark

Phoenix, AZ

This park covers 26,000 square feet and includes a street plaza, a snake run, a spine bowl, and kidney pool. Built by Site Design Group.

California

La Sierra Skatepark

This city-run skatepark features a six-foot mini ramp, a twelve-foot vert ramp, and a street course with rails and quarterpipes. Pads are required, and a fee is charged to skate.

Ridgecrest Skatepark

Ridgecrest, CA

This park has a concrete bowl and a street course.

Tuolumne County Skatepark

Situated next to the Tuolumne County library, this park features three cement bowls, a vert wall, a small pyramid, and some rails scattered about. Admission is free, but a helmet is required. For more information, call Tuolumne County at: (209) 532-4212.

Colorado

Boulder Skatepark

Boulder, CO

Replacing a wooden park at 30th and Arapahoe, Boulder sits on 16,000 square feet and features a huge clover, a combi bowl with spine, and a street plaza with a variety of banks, transitions, extensions, ledges, and rails. It’s free, and no pads are required.

Commerce City Skatepark

Commerce City, CO

This park features a six-foot-high, sixteen-foot-wide halfpipe, a street area with a six-foot wedge, a three-foot spine, a three-foot quarterpipe, a five-foot quarterpipe, a sixteen-foot grind rail, and a two-foot-high funbox with a three-foot-high wall. Pads are required, but the park is free and open dusk ’til dawn.

Cornerstone Skatepark

5150 S. Windermere St., Littleton, CO

This 15,000-square-foot facility has a four-foot pyramid, a three-foot box, a two-foot funbox, an eight-foot start ramp, four- and six-foot flat and curved hips, stairs, and grinding rails. For more information, call: (303) 798-7515.

Connecticut

Eastern Pulse

The new Eatern Pulse park was still under construction at press time, but should be open by March. This 9,000-square-foot park is indoors and will offer a full street course and a large bowl in one room with connecting ramps in another. Eastern Pulse has a pro shop and does require a membership fee. Helmets are also required, and children under twelve must wear pads unless they have permission form their parent. Stratford Skatepark

Stratford, CT

Located right next to Stratford High School, this concrete park has a street course and vert ramp. Pads are required.

Wheels Skatepark

Seymour, CT

This free concrete park has a street course and a mini ramp. Pads are required.

Woodbury Skatepark

Woodbury, CT

This park is still under construction, but it should be finished by spring. Woodbury has a bowl, mini ramp, vert ramp, street course, and pro shop.

Florida

Graffiti Skatezone

Northport Skatepark

Venice Skatepark

Kentucky

Roll Skatepark

Massachusetts

Randolph Skatepark

Located on the corner of South and Center streets, this indoor facility has a six-foot halfpipe that’s twenty feet wide with a ten-foot vert wall. The street course consists of quarterpipes, bank ramps, a funbox, and launch ramps. They will be adding more to the street course this spring. New Mexico

Taos Skatepark

Taos, NM

Taos is a 16,000-square-foot park with a fun-flowing street plaza that blends into a spine bowl. It will be open Spring 2001.

New York

Lewiston Public Skatepark

Pletcher Rd., Lewiston, NY 14174

Lewiston has a free concrete park located at the corner of Pletcher and River, and features a bowl and a street course with a handrail, ledges, and pyramids.

VOV Community Skatepark

This concrete park has a street course and a mini ramp. It’s free, and pads are required.

Ohio

Eagle Creek Skatepark

Findlay, OH

Located on an asphalt pad, this park features a halfpipe, a funbox, five- and seven-foot quarterpipes, five- and seven-foot roll-ins, a pyramid, and some grindrails. It’s free, and pads aren’t required.

North Olmsted Skatepark

This public park features 12,000 square feet of concrete banks, ledges, rails, blocks, and a pyramid. Pads are recommended. The park is located behind the North Olmsted Recreation Complex. For more information, call: (440) 734-8200.

Woodville Skatepark

Pennsylvania

East Coast Skate

ECS is a 10,000-square-foot indoor park with a mini ramp, street course, and pro shop. A fee is charged to skate. Take I-99 to the Frankstown exit. Follow Union about two miles, then turn left under the train tracks. Park is one block up on the right.

South Carolina

Owens Field Skatepark

This outdoor skatepark is located next to Owens Field Airport in downtown Columbia. It features a small halfpipe, a bank, two funboxes, and a few rails. Pads are required, and the cost of admission is one dollar.

Utah

Premier Skatepark

Located across from the fire station, this park has metal ramps on concrete. Features include an eight-foot halfpipe and a street course.

Lakewood Skatepark

This park consists of a halfpipe and a street course with ramps and quarterpipes.

Lynndale Skatepark

This park features a bowl that’s rounded at the top, and a street course with a quarterpipe, two blocks, a ledge, and two pyramids.

Manitoba

Minnedosa Skatepark

Minnedosa, Manitoba, Canada

The Minnedosa community formed a skatepark committee, raised over 15,000 dollars, and paid for a brand-new 5,000-square-foot asphalt pad and 3,000-dollars worth of ramps including a six-foot drop-in bank, a quarterpipe, a funbox with a nice ledge, an adjustable rail, and a variety of rails and low boxes.

New Brunswick

Brantford Skatepark

The Edge Skatepark

Kenya

Splash Skatepark

Nairobi, Kenya

Reportedly rather crappy, there nonetheless is a park in Nairobi, Kenya that consists of an asphalt lot with “the worst pyramid imaginable,” a box with coping, a few launch ramps, and a mini ramp. All the ramps are metal, the whole park except the mini ramp is free, and pads aren’t required (it already sounds much more inviting than some So Cal parks). The skatepark is at a water park, and apparently you can skate inside the office on some steps and whatnot.
