Vans To Build Two More Parks

With its latest park opening April 15 near Washington, D.C., Vans has announced plans to open new skateparks in Houston, Texas and Novi, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The Houston park is scheduled to open in September of this year and the Detroit park is expected to open in 2001.

The Houston Vans Skatepark will be approximately 30,000 square feet, and the Detroit park will be approximately 40,000 square feet. Modeled after the Vans Skatepark at the Block in Orange County, the designs of both parks will emphasize their street courses.

The fourth Vans Skatepark will open at the Potomac Mills shopping center in Virginia, and is the first of the Vans parks to be built outside of California. Their success has encouraged Vans to consider future skatepark projects around the world.
