When I think of Josh Kalis a few words come to mind: professional, precise, and nice. Back in September 1997, just after Josh moved back to Philadelphia, he gave me a call to see if I wanted to shoot some photos of him for an ad. The day we went out skating I couldn’t believe what I saw. This was the first time I’d seen him skate. He landed every trick with such a unique style. Some of the stuff he was doing I couldn’t even comprehend.
Josh is 100-percent skateboarding. He applies himself to any given trick he does and succeeds in doing it. Some people say, “Good things come to those who wait,” a truth that landed Josh on the DC team. You can see Josh skating at Love Park almost every day, searching for technical lines to be filmed, or even helping out little kids who are just starting to skate. If you haven’t seen any of his skating, I suggest you check out the up-and-coming Alien Workshop video and the new TransWorld video Sixth Sense. You will not be disappointed.
