Vans, Inc. has announced its sponsorship of Pier del So, a Special Olympics fundraiser to be held on Sunday, October 10, 1999 from 10am – 3pm at the Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park.
Pier del Sol, a charity even, features an open-air amusement park with thrilling rides, game booths, celebrity appearences, karaoke, food and of course, the famous nine-story ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. During the event, Vans sponsored athletes will be making appearances, performing demos on the Vans donated Half Pipe and signing autographs.

The satisfaction we recieve from knowing we have helped a cause is worth our every effort,” says president of Retail at Vans,Inc and Pier del Sol Executive Committee Member, Neal Lyons.
General admission ticket prices are $25 and include unlimited use of rides, four game-booth tickets, acess to view the Vans Half Pipe show, and a meal coupon for Pacific Park’s Food Plaza. The event will also offer Individual VIP tickets for $70 and include unlimited use of rides and games, access to view the Vans Half Pipe show and enterance into the VIP brunch. The VIP package includes five VIP tickets for $300. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ticketmaster or the day of the event.
Proceeds raised by the event will support the year-round programs of Special Olympics Southern California. The organization serves more than 13,0000 childeren and adults with mental retardation in an eleven county Southern California area. Training and competition opportunities are offered in 19 Olympic-type sports. Fall season sports include Bowling, Cycling, Long Distance Racing, Powerlifting and more.
