Cairo Foster, Rob Gonzalez, KennyReed, and Chad Timtim have started a new company out of Giantcalled POPULIS. Theams are Raymond Molinar andAdam Crew. On flow are Mark Del Negro (Delaware) and Brandon Jacobson (OREGON).

Populis riders are filming already for asegment for ON VIDEO. Kenny Reed flew to London for afew days and is now in Belfast, Ireland. He has at least 7 more trips planned before the new year – Turkey,Israel, Asia, Philippines, Japan, Mongolia, and US trip.

Cairo Foster is now living in SantaMonica. Right now he is on a research and development trip in New York City forPopulis. Rumor has him on the Asia trip in November also.

NewDealwill continue with everyone else.

It seems like itwas only a matter of time. Paul Rodriguez now rides for Girl Skateboards.

Dan Drehobl has left his long time home at Think. He has decided to go for “Krooked“.

Nineyears ago Alan Petersen, Karma, Richard and Jesse Paez made up the family thatwas Consolidated Skateboards. For the past eight years one very importantfamily member had gone missing while the Consolidated family has continued togrow. Consolidated is very happy to welcome home Jesse Paez to the proteam. Having recently recovered from a shoulder surgery, Jesse is back toskating 100%.

Emerica mansion resident, ThisIs Skateboardingvideographer, and skateboarder extraordinaire Jon Miner just returned from ashort weekend trip out to Tucson with Andrew Reynolds, Bryan Herman and Erik Ellington. The crew met up withfellow Emericateammate Aaron Suski in his hometown and got some shredding done for the Emerica vid, Arizona style.

Next stop for the Emerica team is Paris, France where Erik Ellington, ToshTownend,Kevin “Spanky Long and Bryan Herman will be meeting up with Ed Templeton for a demo at thePalais de Tokyo museum this Saturday. From there, the crew heads south toBarcelona, Spain on the 4th of October to hook up with Andrew Reynolds for the Emerica Tortilla Jam contestand filming mission. The Tortilla Jam is a “real street contest held at thefamous street spots in and around Barcelona.

ToshTownend was rather lucky recently. While driving through Southern Oregon on hisway home from Portland early in the morning, Tosh fell asleep behind the wheelof his Lexus IS and drifted onto the shoulder. The sound of the wheels rollingacross the gravel woke Tosh immediately and while he turned the wheel to getthe car safely back onto the road, he overcompensated and lost control, bustinga backside slappy on the center divide and finally coming to a stop in aSmith-stall. Thankfully, all aboard were safe, if a little shaken. Uponarriving home sans damaged Lexus, Tosh boarded a plane to Texas for an Elementdemo. The demo was a success and now Tosh is resting back home in HuntingtonBeach, preparing for an Emerica filming trip with Aaron Suski in NYC.

DCcinematographerGreg Huntrounded up a posse of DC skaters and set off for Europe recently to hit new anddifferent spots. Anthony Van Engelen and Brian Wenning flewout with Hunt; joining them later will be Rob Dyrdek, Stevie Williams andRyan Smith. They’re on a three-week trip with stops in London, England;Barcelona, Spain;Paris, France; and Warsaw, Poland.

Labelfilmer, Grant Schubert returned from a two week trip to the Chicago area, where hewas filming Patrick Melcher, Ben Gilley and Jub. They got some goodstuff and had a great time. BLACK OUT should be in stores by November. As of this writing they are wading through the unnerving process of getting rights to the songs they want to use.

FabrizioSantos did a few 360′sin his new BMW after being sideswiped in an accident. He is fine, just car-less with a higher insurancepayment.

AlanPetersenwas skating the Vagabond pool in Fresno when a full movie production crewshowed up to shoot a video for the MTV sensation of the moment, MichelleBranch. They saw him skating and ended up asking him if they could film him.

Consolidated is extremely happy toannounce the additions of Atlanta’s own JeremiahBabb and Phil Kentto the team.

GaryCollinsis recovering way faster from his knee surgery than his doctors haveexpected. He still has a couple ofmonths in physical therapy but you can expect to see his Broken Anglish assback on a skateboard and jumping down shit in no time.> To pass the time he’s been working at AnonymousSkate Shopin Cinncinati.

JordanHoffartfrom Vancouver, BC, is the newest addition to the Powell team.

TheConsolidated Teamhas been hard at work filming for their new video due out this Holiday Season. Karma,Clint Peterson, Seth McCallum and Doug Saenz all spent the month ofJuly with Roberto Aleman in his native Spain filming the countless spots ofBarcelona and the like. Steve Baileyhas also taken up a semi-permanent residence on the Coast of Spain and met upwith the guys to skate on several different occassions. By the last week of thetrip they had gathered a total of six tapes of footage from two differentangles for the video. The day before Clint and Seth were to return home to theStates they all decided to hit up one last spot for a fun session. Whileskating their car was broken into. The thieves took with them all CD playersand CDs, passports, Clint’s video and still cameras along with three of thefootage tapes. Luckily Karma’s camera and three of the remaining tapes werewell hidden and overlooked by the cowardly thieves.

Dave Bergthold has dug Blockhead up from the grave and dragged it backinto the garage. He hasre-released the videos as two box sets and have four of the classic graphicsalong with one brand new one inked by Ron Cameron.

JonComer‘sindependent documentary is currently in the post production stage, andhas a tentative completion date of September 15th. The working title,”A Skate of Mind”, has been changed to “Never Been Done” sincewhat Jon has accomplished in his incredible life has never been donebefore. The movie will tell the story of Jon Comer’s life of how he overcametragedy to become one of the world’s top professional skateboarders and aninspiration to so many while living with such a humble and friendlypersonality. The movie will tentatively premiere in January 2003 at anindependent film festival, and will possibly have a sneak preview in late fall.

Seeing 5 blocks ofskateboarders cruise the city streets must have struck awe in everyone theypassed as cars voluntarily held up traffic to let the skaters pass. The eventwas cut short half way due to police interference. Hopefully this will inspirepeople to hold similar sessions and events in their own city. Sessions is very proud toannounce the success of the 4th annual Tim Brauch Memorial Contest held at the Vans skatepark in Milpitas, California. The event was an incredible spectacle ofsome of the most amazing pool skating ever witnessed by a mix of skaters suchas Steve Caballero, Frank Hirata, Pete the Ox, Jimmy the Greek, Chris Cook, and up and comingripper Benji Galloway. The street course was the stomping ground for theamateur/sponsored contest and was a great showing of skills from some new youngfaces definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

The Consolidated team will be embarking on an 8,000 mile journeyfrom California to Kentucky and back covering almost every inch of land inbetween during the months of September, October and November.> The suckers will load in the van theday after the Tim Brauch Memorial Contest on September 15th and head North to RyanWilburn’snew home-turf of Portland and then make their way East from there.

1984 will be going on a vacation Halloween tour of thePacific Northwest. Portland will be the focal point for the festivities at Burnside on the 31st.

Savier’s office space is hidden behind a 15,000 square foot indoor skatepark where the contest will take place.> To keep these am’s on their toes Savieremployees have designed and built a eurostyle street course for the contest.Previously the exclusive skatepark has been accessible to Savier employees,team riders, and traveling professionals.
