What’s the best way to upgrade your tranny skills? Get your very own mini ramp. But unless it’s well built, your transition will only last so long. Watch as Billy Rohan leads you through the steps of in indestructible mini. And let the endless ramp sessions begin.

Interesting, so why was the mini ramp at 12 and A so janky? Kidding, love that spot. Also, on the comment policy?
"Comments that contain personal attacks, excessive vulgarity, or that are solely for commercial purposes are subject to removal at the Editors’ discretion. Comments that are off topic will be deleted." This is essentially is a blanket statement saying if we don't like we delete it. So you end up with a filter for comments that just endorse your site instead of actual opinions…
That is sad and not representative of the skateboarding community. Yet you have a video of Billy Rohan who is a pioneer in building skateboarding community? I think it's unfair for you to associate with him, but then hypocritically edit the voice of people who care.
Do you have a comment that addresses this issue?
Thank you.

That mini contstruction looks awesome and I'm looking into building one with all the dudes I live with in our basement, but that seems like it'd be really expensive. Does anybody have experience making their own ramp, how much did it cost?

I just built a little 3 foot this summer. The bill was about $1200.

Just like the rooftop skatepark, another NYC Billy Rohan creation the rest of us here probably won't ever get to skate.

Check my avatar pic… I just finished building a 4 ft mini & used this video for tips and it was helpful. Used 3/4 inch for templates & 2 layers of 3/8 for sheeting. All for $800. I used ramp armor for the top layer which was expensive (12 sheets @ $133.50) but well worth it & less expensive than skatelite & just as grippy & durable. With the ramp armor my total cost was $2400
Points to be very careful of…
Measure out your space to be sure you have enough room & select the most level part of your yard.
1. You can save a lot of time & money by making 8 ft sections (less spent on templates & less time spent cutting fewer templates. I spaced the 2×4 ribs out to 11 inches and also saved by using less that way.
2. I used 7 ft transitions with 8 ft of flat & it rides perfect & 4 ft decks. Smiths lock in real nice.
3. I wish there was more on this vid about the coping… I used 2 inch steel coping & notched out 1 inch on each template. By the top layer getting on, the coping sticks out a little bit more than I would like but its still good, if I had to do it again I would notch 1 & 1/4 inch back and 1 inch down.
4. Layer both the 1st & 2nd layer sideways. Water seal the entire flat on the 2nd layer. ***DRILL 1 to 1 & 1/2 inch holes along the seams of the flat where the top layer seams are going to be laying length wise. This helps any moisture drain through to the ground. (This tip was made via Tito @ Team Pain who sold me the ramp armor, THANKS TITO!)
5. Definitely use blocks & a level to get the ramp & tables as level as possible & up off the ground.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. Now go build it!

And if funds are short & you're thinking of "finding" some wood around some construction sites, just be sure to at least target a contractor that is receiving no bid contracts from your local city government. \\m/
