hey all, Jon was an amazing person and also my cousin. we met when he was a kid in Malibu when i used to come visit along time ago. i feel like we really got to know each other just recently, as adults maybe.
Jon and i talked endlessly about adventures in skateboarding, and e-mailed each other our own stoked photo’s, speeding through grinds and drifting ollies. we had hoped to hook up one day, maybe in LA, and go surfing or skating and hang out. when i heard that he hit his head and was in the hospital, i decided to not skate anymore, even though i wasn’t really skating from a bad ankle anyway. that kind of sealed it for me at 38. i accually like skating more now, because when i see someone pull something, i feel all those subtle movements even more, without wanting to blow them out with something better, i didn’t like that comp feeling all the time. only meeting Jon again once, maybe 4 months before he passed on, the grieving process was profound. you know someone is GOOD when you can feel that deep when they are gone. i feel like he has up-graded, not with any organized faith, but just by making that impression on me and others, and being a good person. peace Jon!
