This past Saturday was the opening reception for the new Z-Boy show, “Direct From The Source”, at the Crewest Gallery in the old bank district in downtown Los Angeles. The exhibit showcases original art from Craig Stecyk, Chris Cahill, Chris Dawson, Skip Engblom, Roger Doucette, Peggy Oki, Nathan Pratt, Adam Sarlo, and Cesario “Block” Montano. Most of the art revolves around the 70’s Z-Boys period and showcases the artistic side of the forefathers of skateboarding with their renditions of iconic Z-Boys images. It was a very intimate evening surrounded by original Zephyr Boys and their friends and families was accompanied with a street skate course in front of the gallery for the kids to enjoy and live performances by local rap groups. The exhibit will be up until November 1st and will have two more gallery showings, one during Artwalk L.A. on October 9th and a closing reception on November 1st. The Crewest Gallery is located at 110 Winston Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
