Friends, how many of us have them? It ain’t just a corny Whodini song. Keith Hufnagel and Ray Mate have been pals since 1988—that’s 20 years—so you know they’ve been through plenty of sh-t since they originally met in the streets of Canarsie, Brooklyn. In fact, Huf has made quite a career for himself in skateboarding, while Ray has been following the same trajectory in the streetwear circuit. His company Mighty Healthy, which launched back in 2004, has estabished itself as one of the major players in the streetwear game. So it makes perfect sense that MHNY and DVS have joined forces for a cobbler collab. Actually, the project is much more than a shoe collaboration: The line also consists of plenty of apparel pieces, including a reversible gray and black vest, branded T-shirts, and two custom colorized shoe designs—the Huf 5 Runner and Huf 5 Mid. And the coloways selected actually have some meaning to it: Ray was inspired by the colors of Xavier High School—a Jesuit school located in the Chelsea Neighborhood in Manhattan that Huf attended growing up. That’s a meaningful relationship right there. To get your hands on the DVS x Mighty Healthy collection, you’re gonna have to wait ’til November where it’ll be available in finer skateshops around the world. Check out the product below, and make sure to visit DVS’ MHNY microsite. They even included Huf’s original sponsor-me tape!
