If you’ve ever tried to skate the parks in San Diego county,  you know the frustrating pad nannies that pointlessly enforce pad laws to everyone—even skaters over 18 years old. Well in one of the few good things about our poor economy, as of January 1, these annoying people are history, and the parks that used to charge money are now free! The parks are finally ours as they should have always been. Read on.

Yeah but when there are kids that are being supervised by there parents and they get hurt they don’t sue the previous owners of that park anymore they sue the city. Once the city gets fed up with enough people suing them there not going to want to invest there money in that skate park. So in the next coming years prepare for most these parks to get bulldozed down and another person will buy the land and put something profitable there. So skate it up while you can. Think about it. The city is not going to waste its money to maintain a skate park. They want to make money not lose it.

As I am working to get skateparks funded; I have spoken to the insurance company towns use (Local Government Insurance Trust). Out of 17 towns insured they have not had one claim or law suit. Signs are posted “skate at your own risk” there is NO difference between the liability with a skatepark than a swing set.

The attorneys we have spoken to agrees that the liability goes up with a supervised park since the town assumes and inherent known risk.

Unsupervised parks provide less liability and less chance for a successful law. The arguement for supervised parks does not hold water.
