The Underground King of Reno - Joel Wilkins - One of the most creatively gifted skaters of our era, Joel’s uncanny ability to create the unthinkable out of anything places him among the most unique skaters in the sport. Inventive spot checks, crazy manual tricks, and a flare for the extreme are just a few of the tricks in Joel’s deep bag, but to really get into the mindset of The Underground King of Reno, one must truly be able to understand the terminology used with the expression, “perfect balance”. i got plenty of hate. 1.)wiggers suck in general. 2.)pointless effects for the first half of the video to make you think hes shrooming, when hes not. 3.) backside boardslides on ledges and one foot manuals are stupid as f**k. 4.) lounge music.

yeah alot of it is abd (who cares), but its footy tape fridays, the guy is not a pro or anything… so he need not be judged as one.
it was a breath of fresh air.
the tricks were not some cut and paste trash like the majority of skaters.

Yes skeeter, I really don’t know why people feel the need to hate. It really doesn’t get us anywhere or make other people change. I find it nicer to try to enjoy as many people’s skating as possible, you have a lot more to watch that way.

no sir, I didn’t like it. I’m psyched that he’s doing his own thing and he should keep at it. Personally, I didn’t like the style, the tricks were out of the circus, the editing was disorienting, and “… most gifted skaters of our era” is an exaggeration anyway you look at it…. that’s not hate, it’s an objective opinion. Are we all just supposed to say we’re psyched on it just to be “nice”? What kind of world would it be if people only said nice things about everything?

The one footed mannies and hang ten mannies were probably done by Koston as a joke 15 years ago. Just saying.
I think its cool to be giving Paolo and Vallely a shout out and takin’ those “retro” tricks and adding his own spin on them.
Yeah slow manual circus tricks can be a little kookie because were in this time of Grant Taylors and Busenitz…..but damn..I still like the kids skating.

Dude is sick, he skate pretty damn fast in real life. Some times that doesn’t translate well into film. The editing is pretty bad though, and saying you do things different, means you don’t know what your doing… add some dust when he lands and sprinkle it with gold stars then lower you color temp and make it green…that doesn’t take skills, it takes skills to do things right. Tight skater terrible editing.

ok editing doesn't realllly matter, and you can't blame the people who put it together for trying to hype their video (they might be pushing it a little far with the "perfect balance" and all that) but, they just want you to see it. id like to see the haters do kickflip one foot manuals. technically nobody is being 100% creative anymore (haslam has been doing those hang ten and one foot manuals for years) but when i see good clean tricks that are not the expected i am impressed. i let out a "DAAAAMN" on the first trick.
