Paul Rodriguez Wins Gold At X Games Street Finals

After qualifying second on Friday, Paul Rodriguez came through in Saturday’s finals and took home another X Games gold medal. P-Rod was consistent as always putting down both a switch flip and switch heel down the twelve, as well as some other rail bangers, which was enough to beat out Nyjah Huston in second and Adam “I f—king love skateboarding” Dyet in third. But real the question is… Nick Dompierre fifth? Well, if only ESPN would have allowed us to film the finals, we might have an answer for you.

hate Paul Rodriguez. Skates so good, but soooo borring. Always the same, and he lands his tricks so clean and smooth, which makes them borring, when he doesn't struggle with anything.

I don't normally watch these competitions on TV but this one I caught. Let me tell you Paul Rodriguez did not deserve the gold for this one. His tricks were switch flip, switch heel, and some other flip trick they didn't show like a reg kickflip down the 12. The last part (12stair rail & banks) is what determined the win. Adam Dyet on the other hand threw down three narly tricks; kickflip melon the ramp over what looked to be the size of the Brooklyn Banks to flat, kickflip back lipslide down the 12 stair handrail and then a nollie frontside 360 down the actual stair set. Judges quote unquote were looking for creativity, difficulty and use of obstacles. Adam Dyet achieved all of them. Since when has a switch flip or switch heel been more difficult than a nollie front 360 to give it a poorer score? Well think about who's scoring these comps, considering the only people that could land these type of tricks are actually in the competition. Another unjust win for Paul Rodriguez, sure he's a great skater but this win is totally debatable for any skater to argue. Just wait till the video comes out to prove Dyet's justice.

P-rod was the best skater in this comp. A switch flip and switch heel down a monster ass 12 is better than one Nollie 360. Not to mention his rail tricks like switch front feeble down the double set rail. Ill take that over a kickflip back lip any day because didn't like 2-3 people do the kick back lip anyways? I don't know guys. I think Paul definitely earned his gold in this one.

paul was way ahead of everyone from the first 2 rounds. he destroyed the pyramid section and the double set handrails. he didnt need to do anything too great on the 12 stair since he had such a big lead

not true at al come on a 47 out of 50 for a switch flip and a swotch heel and nyjah got a 43 for a perfect kick flip back lip to be honest i could have swotch flipped that twelve and they would have only gave me like a 39 cause p rod is all hype.
