Vans Book Signings with Alva, Caballero & Steve Van Doren

Vans Book Signings with Alva, Caballero & Steve Van Doren
It’s been talked about for many years and now it’s finally come to life! On June 1, Vans released its first-ever book, Vans: Off the Wall, featuring 20-some-odd stories that collectively tell the story of the brand: from Rowley to Warped Tour, from Customs to Joel Tudor, from Alva and Cab to artist collabs. To celebrate the launch, Vans will be hosting book signings with skate legends Steve Caballero and Tony Alva and Vans namesake Steve Van Doren at Vans stores in Washington D.C., Houston and Dallas, as well as at powerHouse Arena in Brooklyn. Tuesday night’s signing at powerHouse Arena will feature a special Q&A, followed by a signing, plus drinks, music and giveaways. Those interested in attending can RSVP to vans@powerhousearena.com.

EMERICA’S WILD IN THE STREETS 2009 BENEFITTING LEESIDE SKATEPARK
Emerica’s Wild in the Streets Hits Vancouver, B.C. June 21, 2009 to Benefit Skateboarder Lee Matasi’s (RIP) LeeSide Skatepark
Los Angeles, CA – Emerica’s Wild in the Streets main event goes international for the first time! The Emerica team will be heading up to Vancouver, BC, Canada for Go Skateboarding Day on June 21, 2009, for Wild in the Streets. This year, Wild in the Streets will benefit LeeSide <http://www.myspace.com/leeside> , the underground DIY skatepark that Vancouver skateboarder and artist Lee Matasi envisioned and began creating before his untimely death. Lee was shot and killed in 2005, but lives on through LeeSide.
An Emerican army consisting of a few thousand skateboarders will charge the streets of Vancouver during the Wild in the Streets 2009. Emerica is hosting the event this year to raise awareness about Lee Matasi, to raise money to help LeeSide continue to grow, and to support the Vancouver skateboarding community. Emerica will be selling t-shirts and all funds raised during the event will go toward the construction of new obstacles for LeeSide.
Make your plans now to head to Canada’s Hot Corner. If you can’t make it to Vancouver and are interested in organizing your own Wild in the Streets event, finding an event planned near you or for more information on Emerica’s Wild in the Streets, be sure to check out http://www.emericawildinthestreets/ <http://www.emericaskate.com/team/wiwildinthestreets/>
In case you need another reason to head to Vancouver, the Emerica team will be making an appearance at Underworld on Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 p.m., followed by a session at LeeSide with the entire team.

Professional skateboarder Jereme Rogers said Wednesday he was sorry for disturbing his Redondo Beach neighbors this week when he “ate some `mushrooms’ and bugged out,” preaching naked on his rooftop.
Rogers, a high school dropout who attributes his skateboarding skills to God, was eventually grabbed by police officers and brought down from his precarious perch.
“It obviously was not an everyday experience,” the 24-year-old athlete said. “It was a very out-of-body experience. I’ve never had an experience like that.”
Rogers pulled off his boxer shorts about 6:40 a.m. Monday and climbed onto the roof of the two-story house he shares with roommates on Havemeyer Lane and Goodman Avenue.
“It was obviously something I shouldn’t have done,” Rogers said as he rolled a marijuana joint in his bedroom. “It was just something that happened.”
