éS Game of SKATE in Phoenix, AZ

The first éS Game of SKATE of the season went down today in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Desert West Skatepark—the first of the modern wave of skateparks in the Phoenix area. Ed and Trent and the Cowtown boys were out in support—the Cowtown crew is always supportive of skateboarding events and know how to do it right.
Two-hundred twelve skaters signed up, and fortunately the temperature at start time was only about 90 degrees–fifteen degrees cooler than a couple of Games of SKATE we’ve done there in the past. Although there were a number of Game of SKATE regulars back to skate the contest, there were definitely a lot of new faces. In the end, though, the finals came down to Ike McVickers, Derek Hamm, and last year’s winner Diego Najera. Diego won the rock-papers-scissors and never looked back, going through about 16 tricks to hammer the letters on Ike and Derek, who both hung tough for a while before finally succumbing to that last “e.” For Derek it was a nollie backside heelflip and for Ike a switch 360 flip. Diego took out both guys without ever giving up control–some good work for the youngster from El Centro, California.
We’ll be seeing Diego in SoCal in the Fall at the éS Game of SKATE Finals, date and location to be announced. Thanks to Cowtown, TransWorld SKATEboarding and Skull Candy for being part of the Game of SKATE… we hope to see you next year!

That was the worst game of SKATE I've ever seen. Most of those 180 variations were pivots and shreds. Not to mention the sketchiness.
I thought I was watching a video of who could molest a trick the worst…

Yea, don't hate congratulate. For all those haters whether you like it or not that dude won - he didn't miss any tricks and by the way….none of them were sketchy. This is a game of skate and he used it to his advantage, whether they were all pivots or shreds.

When I play SKATE with my friends, we use the strange rule that you have to actually LAND a trick for it to count.
I guess eS went for different rules and counted sketch landings.

When I come to the video section of this site, I want to see fun, creative, and interesting skating. Sometimes the videos are amateurish and sometimes they are professional, but so long as they make you want to go out and skate and are interesting, then they belongs on this site. This video was none of those things, and it doesn´t belong on a respected site like Transworld.

who cares everyone needs to quit whining…when they come to a town near you go to the game of skate till then shut the hell up im not agreeing that video was good there posting it because its a current skate event thats going on not because its the most amazing video ever and half the kids that said bad stuff about this video would probably get tossed in a game of skate

You're exactly right. It IS my "personal desire" to see fun, creative and interesting skating on this site. What's wrong with that? What's the alternative? Videos that are boring, uncreative and uninteresting? No thanks.
And Mark, do you really think that the words "fun, creative and interesting" are excessively complicated ("florid" was the word you used, which is, um, an excessively complicated word itself), as though I were trying to show off my vocabulary?

Anyways, I think that these comments do matter to me. The Transworld editors needs to know their readers' opinions on the videos that they post in the Video section to know what we like and what we don't like. Which would you rather see? Cool new videos or the same old boring shit?
