Profilin’ with Neftalie featuring Torey Pudwill

Welcome to our new forum brothers and sisters, “Profilin. We all just came up! Yep, that’s right “we made it! You and I just closed some of the gap between the skaters we dig, and the miles and time zones separating us from all hanging together.

How do we do this, since you and I still live here, and they live…umm, somewhere we don’t know? Simple, I’m going to put you to work! No, no, not like the work you do for an allowance. That doesn’t allow you to do anything anyways, and fo’ sho’ this ain’t homework. (Well, not for you, but it’s cool, I like to type every night ’till 2a.m. for days at a time. They say it gives me character… or carpal tunnel.) Nonetheless, you and I are going to interview our favorite skaters in one of two ways. Either email me one question to ask our boys, here at twshasmail@yahoo.com or you can text or call me at (813) 484-5700. Simply leave me a message with the question you would like posed! Not only will we get to the bottom of your query during the interview, but if your question rocks, I’ll call you and let you ask them directly! Then we’ll post in up here with your name for the world to see.(Unless of course you pass out from the shock of having say, Torey Pudwill, PJ Ladd, or your favorite skater on the line. In that instance, we’ll ask your boys to take a pic of you passed out, and post that on the web!) We’ll make you famous! Enough talk! Hit me up!—Neftalie

Profilin’ featuring – Torey Pudwill

First off Torey, everyone wants to know how old you really are? You’ve been in the game for a while now and because of it no one has been able to figure it out?
(Laughing) Yeah, it seems like no one knows and it’s always the first question on everyone’s mind. I’m 16. I was born on May 2 1990.

Damn brother, you’re still crazy young. How long have you been skating?
Oh yeah I’ve already been skating for 10 years.

Do you feel like you’re just catching your stride right now? You’ve been getting plenty of coverage and you won best trick in Tampa.
Yeah things have been going great for me. I’m psyched on the way I’ve been skating and I really had a great time in Tampa.

Did you try to get ready for Tampa or was that just natural?
It was natural, I was just out there having fun and enjoying being around everyone else. It actually surprised me more than anybody because I felt like I was just cruising around.

Well that’s tight, you just “funned your way to best trick.
Yeah, exactly.

Well since you’ve just now become old enough to drive, how are you exercising your new found power? I heard you got a new ride?
Yeah I actually just got a new Toyota Camry hybrid.

Damn, how’s that treating you?
Great, it’s been sick. It’s nice to be able to drive back and forth to spots, however I am learning to hate driving in traffic already!

Ah, welcome to the land of traffic and the 405, brother.
Yeah it’s rough. I already got in my first accident the other day too, so my car is in the shop.

What happened?
It was totally the other person’s fault! Some dude totally cut me off really bad. It wasn’t my fault though, but its inconvenient. The cool thing is that my mom is letting me use her car though so at least I can use that to get around.

Now that’s a good mom, and speaking of which, how are your parents when it comes to being on the road and the tours and video schedule?
They let me get my work done and they’re totally cool. They really support me hard. They are awesome and let me focus on what’s important, and they still care about me doing well in school.

What grade are you in?
11th , I’m doing home schooling now, so that really helps.

Nice, that must help with travel. Do you have any tours coming up right now?
Yeah I’m actually getting geared up to be on the road in a second. I have a bunch of tours going on. ter this month I go to Spain for two weeks with DVS. Then I go to Brazil for two weeks with DVS. Then I come home for a minute, then I go back to Europe for a few weeks with almost.

That’s great brother especially since you’re so young, but you better be careful, those women in Brazil are righteous! You might get broke off good, and never make it home! They don’t play over there! It happens to brothers all the time!
I know, (laughing) that’s what I keep hearing, I heard the lovin’ they give can take a brothers head off!

Yeah, that’s the truth!

Phone in Question from Stevie Burill, Amherst, New Hampshire
Stevie: Now since you’re the new am on almost, and since Daewon recruited you, do you feel any pressure?
Not at all, everyone who’s on the team is a homey. Everyone’s down just like on DVS. I actually can’t wait to go on a trip with all of them. I’m super happy with the way all those dudes handle their business. They keep skating fun!

What’s a normal day for you like just so the kids know what’s up with you on the daily?
TOh it’s cool. A normal day really is just getting set to go skating. I basically roll with all my friends everyday. It’s what I’m doing now just rollin’ with the boys. We’re actually out skating right now while you called and we’re on our way to another spot now.

Are you skating with the same kids you did when you were younger.
Totally, pretty much the same people.

Do you get into anything else besides skating, how do you unwind?
Mostly we just skate, but sometimes we just play pool at the pool hall, go play darts and just hang out and do regular stuff. But most of the time we are just skating.

You had a great part in Jereme Rogers’ Neighborhood (shout out to the NE scene!). How did you hook up with him to work on the vid in the first place?
Jereme really just wanted to work on something new. He actually knew who he wanted on the vid and we were all down. It never felt like pressure. We all just rolled together.

Your part in Jereme’s video was great, especially the bonus footage. Did you know that was going to be a bit of a defining moment for you?
They really hooked me up in the bonus footage. I was really happy with the way it came out. It’s funny because we were just chilling and keeping it low key, but then a point came when we all realized we needed to push hard to get everything done in time for it to be released by 411. I have a lot of love for Jereme and the crew for getting that together.

Yeah I always love all those dudes from back home Jereme, PJ, Gallant, and Eli. I’m always happy to see them come up. As always big shout out to my East Coast crew. Who are your sponsors now, so they can get their shout outs?
almost, DVS, Matix , Force trucks, Active and Skatelab.

How are you riding for both shops and how is Active? They are really big, is it still fun?
Oh, I’ve been with them since I started skating, we’ve been together for a long time. Active is mellow. I know a bunch of the people and it’s just cool that they are getting bigger and doing well to. Skating’s just great like that. I like watching it get bigger and people get better. All of my friends came from the bonds in skating.

Speaking of people getting better, I know you skate everything, and that’s always great. It let’s people see all the sides of you. I know you can kill it anywhere. I remember a little while ago people hated on Daewon because they said he only skated picnic tables and now look at him. He hammered that out and let everyone know.
Oh totally, I love that he changed the game up. From him doing the gnarliest manny shit to the gnarliest tranny shit! No one’s got nothing on him. That’s the way you’re supposed to truly skate everything!

I love seeing him do pivot to tre flip fakies, he just hurt everybody.
Yeah and Daewon is just the mellowest dude too. Super humble and never stressed. He’s just havin fun.

Let’s talk about your decision to ride for almost, how did that come about? I know you were getting flowed by a few different companies? I know one was Alien and one was Chocolate.
I was actually on Alien flow for about a year and that was great because I was super down for that company.

Yeah, I love Sarge and that whole crew, they’ve got a tight ship.
Exactly, and during that time and when I was on Chocolate flow, Daewon asked me to come over to almost. I was totally psyched that it was Daewon talking to me, but I really try to be loyal to where I’m at during my life, so I actually told him no a few times.

Really? That means a lot especially at the age you are and if you were just on a flow setup.
Well I try to hold everybody down but this time it felt right. It was sort of like when I left Shorty’s. I was super down for that company and I had a good time and love those guys, but at a certain point it could only go so far. My decision to go to almost came when I felt I wanted to be solidly on a company and have a definite direction. I pretty much just had a great opportunity with almost and I took it.

I’m psyched Daewon came to get you, he doesn’t come to get many people.
Yeah it was cool that it was Daewon. He’s just killing it the hardest right now and I feel like that’s pretty inspiring, plus I dig the whole team. Cooper’s the shit, Haslam is rad and I haven’t met with Rodney, but I know he’s psyched on me being on. I also totally dig Lewis Marnell. It’s really cool because people may not realize it but he’s so good.

Yeah, I know he’s scaring me with those switch bigspin flips down the gaps!
Yeah he’s super buttery. I’m really happy at the way things are looking and I can’t wait to go on tour with those guys. almost has a family feel, just like Girl/Chocolate and Alien, but it’s an even smaller crew.

That’s why I love skating so much. No matter where you go you still always fit into a tight crew anywhere in the world.
Yeah I feel the same way, I’ve got love for everybody everywhere just because skateboarding brings us all together.

Well said brother, we should just end it there!
You’re right!
