Tony Tave’s Pro!

Less than one year after having a 20 Questions interview in TransWorld‘s 2006 Am Issue and premiering his full-length part in C1RCA’s It’s Time, Element has turned Tony Tave pro and threw a party to kick off his career in Costa Mesa, California on Thursday night. The Active (also one of Tony’s sponsors) shop in Costa Mesa provided the venue right outside their doors on a second-story patio where the guest list was on an invite only basis. About 50 friends, family, and fellow skate team homies made it out to sip on a little champagne and congratulate a skateboarder who has easily earned the pro status.

As the night progressed, Active brought out a cake in honor of Tony. But what Tony didn’t realize was that this cake was not for eating. In a matter of minutes chocolaty goodness was smashed and smeared into Tony’s face courtesy of Torey Pudwill, filmer Lee Dupont, and Element’s Ryan Kingman. “Welcome to becoming a pro, was all Kingman had to say. Though covered in cake, nothing could wipe Tony’s smile off his face.

Look out for Tony in the years to come. He killed it as an am and now as a pro, we have a feeling he’s not going to disappoint.—Ben Kelly
