If you don’t know about Sean Sheffey and the impact he has had on modern day skateboarding you might want to do your homework. Your favorite pro’s favorite pro has been off the map for the past few years, but is back again and ready to pick up where he left off.
Last year the entire skateboarding world witnessed the comeback of a dearly missed icon in Guy Mariano. This year another legend has come back to skating after going through some tough times of his own. Most people probably never thought they would ever see Sheffey back on his board, but with some lessons learned and some help from his friend Jake Brown, Sean is back. Everyone deserves a second chance, so take a moment to listen so Sean and Jake talk about the tough times and what Sean plans to do with his new lease on life.

I remember him from the Ghetto Child wheels back in the day, but never saw him skate. I’m very excited for guys like Sean and Guy to get back in the scene. They definitely have plenty of new skaters to inspire and wow.
March 18th, 2009 at 7:00 pm

March 18th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
sheffy is the man,
good to see you back on your feet homie!
March 18th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
The thing is that Guy was never out!!! He as just much more underground, where Sheffey was out of skateboarding. He seems a little “out there” … I’m not saying it in a disrespectful way but it seems like he must have been into drugs??? The great thing about us skaters is that we always give each other another chance!!! Welcome back Sean you deserve it!
March 18th, 2009 at 9:06 pm

NICE, I had the DVS Sheffey 2 I think 7 years ago. They got stolen. Get him on DVS again.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:06 am
Wow…tragic. Maybe sponsors will finally figure out that they have to take care of their riders.

jake brown is the man. glad to see sheffey back… and sober.
March 19th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
I met Sean at a Plan-B demo way back when. The guy looks intimidating, but was probably the nicest pro I ever met. Look forward to seeing Sheffy photos in the mags again.
March 19th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
YEEAAAHH Shef
My favorite part of this interview is when hes like “aww, I have boards, yes”. There is something about knowing your good on boards for the next few months or whatever that makes you so happy as a skater. If I dont have a few decks around my room, I start feeling weird.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
i cant understand a word they said
March 20th, 2009 at 3:54 am

It’s good to see that sheff is laying off of the pipe, he was one of my all time favorite riders. From seeing him all crazy back in the day it is quite a change to see how humbled he has become. I am excited to see if he gets back all raw.
March 22nd, 2009 at 9:31 pm

I grew up with Sean in Clinton, MD. He was my next door neighbor my entire childhood. When skateboards came out, he built a ramp and was on the skateboard every single day in front of the house. Determination pays off!! I wish Sean all the success in the world. Sean definitely has a testimony.
September 17th, 2009 at 10:30 am
I grew up in Northern Virginia, and I remember when Sean was on SHUT, and got on SMA, and was in the Speed Freaks (I think) video, and had the cameo in Hokus Pokus, and then the Life video, and I just tripped the fuck out on him and his style and power. I just thought what an amazing thing this was that a ripper from Maryland can make it, and maybe I could. Back then (89) only guys from California could get the hookup on a good company.
I first met him in like 91 at Freedom plaza in DC,and he gave me a board, and then about two years later he came back with the Plan B team to film in DC for Virtual Reality after these East Coast contests (that i was at as well), and he remembered my name, and some trick I had done, and i tripped out on that too. Who was I? Nobody! But he had remembered me, and it made me feel good.
I also got to meet Mike Ternasky around that time, which was special. What a harsh loss to the sk8 community with his passing. fuck. where has the time gone.
I hope Sheff can comeback strong, and I feel its a testament to skateboarding, that he has been able to turn things around to return to something that he loves so much.
Digz.
