Whew, I can’t believe it’s over. But what a way to go out. Straight off their Harleys from the Wild Ride, the Emerica team came into Milpitas, CA the night before the Couch stop, hit the hotel, and woke up the next day and showed the Milpitas locs the best time we’ve all had since the tour’s beginning. They ripped the course, signed autographs for hours, all right before they had to hit the road again for a long drive up north. The Emerica team rips!

With two contests happening in one day—the first BFF contest for Milpitas and then the finals for the entire tour—there was a plenty of skating to be seen. After Mario Matabele took first in the Milpitas BFF contest, he also made it to the finals in the finals finals (I guess that’s what we’ll call it). But in the end Tom Ryen’s blend of pure tranny and street skill earned him first place for the entire tour and a spot at GvR coming later this summer.

As the day came to a close, the fun had only just begun. The Zumiez crew was on fire and deservedly letting off some stress from putting together another successful tour. A little champagne in the Spy bus with Braydon Szafranski, an “everybody’s invited dinner in downtown San Jose, and one more memorable night on the Couch Tour.

Now it’s back to the office to adjust with civilized society where, hopefully, I can function like a normal human being again. But with all the amazing skating I saw, amazing people I’ve met, and amazingly good times I’ve had on the 2007 Zumiez Couch Tour, I’ll always be willing to crash on the orange couch.
