Andrew Gordon Interview

Andrew Gordon

How old are you?

Thirteen.

Do you have a curfew?

Not really. Well, it depends. On school nights it’s 10:30.

If you get bad grades at school, do your parents not let you skate?

No.

What’s the worst grade you’ve ever gotten?

Probably like 50s.

What about A, B, C, D, or F?

Well, they don’t really go like that. I guess it’s like a D.

Oh, percentage wise … last time I checked a 50 was an F. Anyway, how long do you think it’ll take before you can be pro, or does that even matter to you?

I’d like to be pro, but I’ll just turn pro when I’m ready.

Do you know who Tony Alva is?

Yeah.

Who is that guy?

He’s a skater.

Good answer. Who’s been the most influential/important skater to you since you’ve been skating?

Probably Tony Hawk and Mark Gonzales.

What about all this millennium hype, do you think something will really happen?

I don’t think anything is gonna really happen. I don’t really pay attention to that too much, though.

Do you have any predictions for skateboarding in 2000?

I think it’ll just get way more technical and stuff, with Tony Hawk landing the 900 and everything. I think it’s just going to keep on progressing a lot more.

Do you have any plans for New Year’s Eve 1999?

I’ll probably just be going down to Tampa for the amateur contest.
