Brain Floss – Gary Van De Greik

Gary Van De Greik

Gary Van De Greik is the kind of visual-artist poet who seems to have had no choice in the matter of becoming an artist. His art comes from the skin and bones of his presence rather than the force of will or ambition. He’s an example of that rumored happenstance-the born artist. His visionary insights grew unimpeded in some private preserve of his consciousness while the external circumstances of his life were harsh and chaotic. These streams all run together in the luminous truth of Van De Greik’s photographs. Outer harshness is seen vividly for what it is, but it’s permeated and suffered with the warmth of a deeply sympathetic inner awarness.-Jerry Hiler
