2003 Phoenix Am Contest

The second annual Phoenix Am contest is scheduled to take place April 4—6 at the Desert West Skateboard Plaza. The contest entry fee is 50 dollars per skater. Skaters must have a legitimate industry sponsor to enter. There’re only 100 spots available, and registration is on a first-come first-serve basis.

Here’s a little taste of what’s on the menu already.

Darrel Stanton, teriyaki tailslides.

Jereme Rogers, a smorgasbord of switch flips.

Raymond Molinar, “baked” backside lipslides.

J. T. Aultz, nougaty noseblunts.

Van Wastell, custardy cream-filled krooked grinds.

Peter Ramondetta, tandoori tre flips.

Schedule Of Events

Friday, April 4

11:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.: open practice.

7:00 p.m.: Mandatory meeting with the judges, skater check-in and heat notification, contest rules and regulations.

Saturday, April 5

9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.: contest (four heats).

9:00 p.m.: Phoenix Am Jam (free party for contestants and VIPs).

Sunday, April 6—Semifinals And Finals

11:00 a.m.: semifinals (top 35).

2:30 p.m.: finals (top ten).

Best-trick contest immediately following finals.
