adidas Presents Inaugural Summer Skate Series

Please join adidas and your hosts, the adidas Skate Team: Mark Gonzales, Lance Mountain, Paulo Diaz, Quim Cardona, Jahmal Williams, and Matt Beach at its first Summer Skate Series. The one-day event will be held at Alameda Point Skate Park in Alameda, CA, August 28th, 1999, 10:00a.m. – 4:00p.m.

This free extravaganza open to the public promises to be exciting with skate competitions, live music, and other special events held in conjunction with Thrasher Magazine, The Skate Deck Museum, Sega, Red Bull, and local Skate Shops.

Invited amateur skaters sponsored by FTC, Consolidated, Bill’s Wheels, NHS, and Real will be competing for: Best Flip, Best Lip and Best Overall Trick, and Best Skater of the Bay, members of the adidas Skate Team will judge the contest. Each award winner will receive a cash prize.

In addition, the adidas’ Skate Team will host a skate demonstration prior to the event, 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m., in conjunction with the Alameda Point Skate Park Task for approximately 75 kids from the Alameda and surrounding communities. DJ 1987 and DJ Swift Rock will be spinning music between live performances by One Man Army and Throw Rag throughout the day.

The focus of the event is to support local skaters and the development and refurbishment of community skate parks. adidas will be making a donation to Alameda Skate Park at the end of the day. All proceeds from the event Summer Skate T-shirts (designed by Mark Gonzales) will be donated for maintenance and upkeep of Alameda Point Park.
