Afro-punk Announces 7th Annual Festival, August 27-28 2011

The Afro-punk Festival is returning to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park,

for the 7th Annual Afro-punk Festival on August 27-28 2011.

The Nike Battle for the Streets, NYC’s largest street skate and BMX competition will return this year with the nation’s top amateur skaters and BMX riders. The competition will be judged by top pros including Nigel Sylvester, Edwin Delarosa, Billy Rohan, and the SHUT Crew. The event will be hosted by NYC legends, Alex Corporan and Tyrone Williams. Guest appearances will feature Nike shredders, Ishod Wair, Justin Brock, Daryl Angel, Brian Anderson and 25 hand selected East Coast rippers. The tunes will be supplied by Stack-Aly.

The 2011 Festival has the most stellar musical line up yet featuring Cee Lo Green, Gym Glass Heroes, Santigold, Janelle Monae, Fishbone, Jay Electronica, Toro Y Moi, Toshi Reagon , Ninjasonik, Cerebral Ballsy, Gordon Voidwell, Reggie Watts, Res, Joi, Rocky Business, Straight Line Stitch, and more.
