Boarding For Breast Cancer (BBC), a non-profit, youth-focused awareness, and fundraising foundation, today announced the dates for its 1999 / 2000 events.

BBC’s mission is to spread breast cancer awareness among today’s youth, and to raise funds for research and educational programs. Through events, sports, music and art, BBC strives to spreads awareness about good breast health practices and the importance of early cancer detection as the key to surviving the disease.
BBC’s Snowboard + Music Festival, Presented by RLX Polo Sport combines live music from internationally acclaimed bands such as The Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, and Blink 182, with pro snowboard exhibitions by the world’s top snowboarders such as Shannon Dunn, Ross Powers, and Tina Basich. A festival-atmosphere of tents and displays also provides an interactive montage of breast cancer awareness programs, for a fun-filled educational festival. BBC is planning a special fifth anniversary celebration for this year’s festival including new activities, a BBC photo archive display, and new breast cancer awareness programs.
BBC’s Board-A-Thon program, Strengthened by Fitness Magazine takes place at ski resorts across the country. At BBC Board-A-Thons, participants collect pledges from family, friends, and anyone interested in supporting the cause. Then, on the event day, participants hit the slopes for a day of riding or skiing. Events highlights including on-site breast cancer awareness and education exhibits, snowboard product demos, a product raffle, halfpipe jam session, and live music by regional bands.
Since its inception in 1996, BBC has raised over $350,000 for the cause through its events and programs. Each year, BBC awards grants and funds to awareness and research programs, while continuing to develop BBC’s own youth-oriented outreach programs. Past beneficiaries have included The Breast Cancer Fund, The Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Nina Hyde Center For Breast Cancer Research, and a variety of local organizations.
