Skateboard industry to come together to raise funds for the families and the victims of the World Trade Center attack.
In an effort to bring together the skateboard industry and raise money for the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, a benefit event is being held on Saturday, November 3 at the Owls Head Skatepark in Brooklyn, New York. Proceeds from the event will be handed over to the State relief fund in the name of the Skateboarding Industry.
Throughout the day, donations will be accepted for product raffles and tosses. Also, limited edition event T-shirts (non-branded) will be produced and sold at the event, and skateboard retailers throughout the nation are also being asked to sell a limited amount of these T shirts in their stores until Christmas. All proceeds of these T-shirts will also be donated to the State relief fund.

Schedule of Events
10:00 am Park opens – Collection of donation from Park Participants. Donators will receive a gift bag courtesy of the Parks Department and the skateboard companies involved.
11:00 am – Various top name NY DJs begin to provide music.
12:00 pm – Best Trick event held for the locals for 20 minutes (various prizes to be awarded).
12:30 pm ? Pro and top-am demo (Round 1).
1:30 pm – Free skate and public skates with pros, and second wave of DJs performs.
2:00 pm – Free product given out to the participants.
2:30 pm – Pro and top-am demo (Round 2).
3:00 pm – DJ comes back on, more product disbursed.
4:00 pm – Jam ends, checks given to the Fund, Thank You ceremony from the skateboard industry.
Event organizers are accepting all types of donations. They suggest that donations come in one of the three forms listed below, and are glad to hear any other creative ideas you may have to raise funds for this cause.
1. Monetary Donation
Monetary donations can be made via check and payable to The New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund. For more information on the fund check the following Web site: www.helping.org/wtc/ny/nystate.htmOrganizers chose this fund for the fact that it goes towards the families of the innocent victims (injured or deceased) the FDNY, PDNY and other relief workers.

Upon receiving all the donations, Sole Technology will send the checks in bulk to the NYS WTC Relief Fund. Checks written out to Sole Technology, Inc. will be returned to original party.
2. Product Donation
Donations of product can be made in addition to the monetary donation. These goods will be used in raffles and goodie bags on the day of the event. If unable to raffle all goods, all donated products will be given to charities supporting victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

3. Team Support
Send out your top Am and Pro riders to skate in the benefit, perform demos, and to skate with the NY locals. The demo and the fundraiser will be held at the newly built Brooklyn Skate Park.
In lieu or in addition to monetary donations, organizers will accept page donations for the Thank you ads. The Thank You ads will list everyone who participated in or donated towards this cause. Organizers would like these ads to run in February release magazines.
Commitment of Donations and Involvement
A written commitment identifying what your donations are and a company logo (Photoshop file) must be sent via e-mail email@example.com>by Oct. 19, 2001 to ensure placement on all collateral material.
Thank You ads will be run in various skateboard magazines and other lifestyle magazines. In addition, many of these magazines have expressed interest in covering the event. Flyers and posters are to be made and distributed. Banners can be displayed on the outside of the park if you would like. Please send these banners with your donation. Please do not send banners larger than two-by-three feet. All day, throughout the event, there?ll be announcements thanking the Parks Department (who donated the facility) and the sponsors who donated to the charity. Questions

Please remember that donations and/or rider commitment has a deadline of October 19. For any contribution made after this date, the company will only be mentioned in the Thank You ad and not the flyer. Contributions can be made until the day of the event.
Many people have suffered due to the September 11 tragedy, and event organizers ask that we all pull together as an industry to help these families move on with their lives. Everyone can participate in one way or another.
