TRANSWORLD GOES “BEHIND THE DC VIDEO”
Itching for more info on The DC Video? Look no further, because the October TransWorld SKATEboarding goes in depth on DC’s first skateboarding video, starting with the very cover of the issue. It’s a foldout that features Danny on the Mega Ramp, caught in the middle of a 15-foot-plus backside 540.
Inside the issue, an article details the making of the video. Titled “Behind The DC Video: Born Under Punches,” the 25-page feature (yes, twenty-five) has interviews with director Greg Hunt and team members Stevie Williams, Brian Wenning, AVE, and Danny. Kevin Wilkins, who flew in from Nebraska to cover the premiere and write the article, conducted the interviews.
He also interviewed one of The DC Video’s surprise stars, Chris “Big Black” Boykin. The interviews reveal the history behind the video’s production and more. What’s the story with the title? What was it about skateboarders that surprised Big Black? Who sweats Wenning the hardest about coverage? The answers to these questions and more may surprise you.
In addition to the interviews, the article is also packed with new and exclusive action shots and portraits of the entire team, including a fold-out sequence of Danny on the Mega Ramp in what the caption describes as “easily the gnarlest sequence in the history of skateboarding.”
In “Speak,” the magazine’s intro column, editor Eric Sentianin asks, “How can the bar be raised? Look in Danny Way’s direction.” The October TransWorld SKATEboarding should be in shops and mailboxes soon.
