(Golden, CO) genetic® airwalk skateboarding is pleased to announce the addition of Chad Bartie to its skate team ranks. Known for his insane street skating skills, Bartie joins an elite roster of some of the world’s most talented skateboarders including Bucky Lasek, Pat Channita and Jesse Paez to name a few. Chad Bartie will have his first pro model shoe debut in Spring 2004.

“From the first time I met Chad and saw him skate I was blown away by his ability to skate anything that was thrown in front of him,” said Rob Dotson, genetic airwalk skate team manager. “Chad is one of the most well rounded skaters I have come into contact with. His versatility adds a huge dimension to the growing genetic airwalk skateboarding program.”

Bartie began his competitive career riding BMX bikes, although his passion changed gears when he was introduced to skateboarding by his brother at the age of eight. 17 years later, Bartie has earned his cred, ranking seventh in World Street Results and 16th in Street for North America according to World Cup Skateboarding. Bartie turned pro in 1998 and has placed in the top ten in all of World Cup skateboarding events he has competed in. While he currently calls Encinitas, California home, his roots are in Burleigh Head, Queensland, Australia where he and brother Jamie co-own a skate shop.

Standing at an impressive 6’2″, Bartie’s known not only for his stance, but his ability to go huge with his unique street style and clean maneuvers. While touring all over the world at demos and competitions, he thrives on the energy of the crowd and loves to see the kids get stoked. He is all about spreading the message to kids to “skate for fun”. Bartie spends his time skating with Matt Mumford in Southern California, but favors skating just about anywhere in his native country of Australia.

Barite adds genetic airwalk skateboarding to his already growing list of sponsors including Defiant Trucks, Bones Wheels, Billabong Clothing, and Jessup Griptape. When he is not skating Chad enjoys surfing, riding dirt bikes and dining on sushi with his new bride, Hannah.
