Volume 21 Number 9
file: Jackson Curtin–Good Stuff
I know some of you have seen those obnoxious T-shirts that make bold egocentric statements like: hottie, best grandmother in the world, porn star, et cetera. If I'm not mistaken, there's also one out there that says: plays well with others.
Although, I could never in a million years see myself spending so much as a nickel on such a hokey item. I could, however–if I knew someone who was working the T-shirt pagoda at the mall and got a discount–shell out a few bucks to add that last one to Jack's wardrobe.
The reason I say this is because Jackson's one of those guys who can kick it with anyone. Everybody loves him. Not to mention he likes to skate a wide variety of terrain. This always makes him a positive presence at almost any session. Pools? I wouldn't rule that one out just yet, he might have a mean crail tap in the works.
When I first met him, I thought he was one of those rough-rider hip-hop roughneck dudes, but then he told me he was a sophomore at SF State. Soon after, I caught him rockin' some Radiohead in his iPod. Things just haven't been the same since.
So, I guess what this is really all about is the mixed-up world of Jack Curtin, or maybe it's just that the rest of us need to stir it up now and then to keep up with him.–Pete Thompson
