Derby Skatepark is a historical skateboard landmark built in the early 70s. It’s the oldest skatepark in California and is a lone survivor of the era. As of today, Rebar was placed in an effort to “resurface” the park with “4 inches” of concrete. This is going to change the transitions and alter history forever. Please call SC Parks and recs supervisor and tell him to stop the madness: Jim Gibbons 831-420-6164. The city of Santa Cruz is listening, and you can make a difference in protecting its heritage.
