Skateboarding lost a great friend in May when Jeanne Hoffman died of cancer. Jeanne and her husband Stan operated the Pipeline Skatepark in Upland, California from 1977 to 1989, after which she continued working with skaters through the California Amateur Skateboard League and Professional Skateboard League with friend Sonja Catalano.
Jeanne was born in 1926, and was involved in her community and various youth-sports organizations her entire life. She was a dedicated person who touched the lives of several generations of skaters. In November of last year, she and Stan were present at the opening of the Vans Skatepark in Orange, California to dedicate the Combi Pool, which was based on the original blueprints they provided from the Pipeline Skatepark.
Skateboarding will never have another Jeanne Hoffman. She will be greatly missed because she was a great friend to the sport and to those who—like her—love it so much.
