Those going to Vancouver, British Columbia for the Slam City Jam weekend have a couple of soirees at their disposal. Photographic: A Photography and Art Exhibition will take place on Saturday, May 1 at Vital, 1216 Robson from 8:00—11:00 p.m. The works of Skin Phillips (TransWorld), Brian Caissie (Concrete Powder), Randy Laybourne (Giant, Emerica), Judah Oakes (etnies, Timebomb),Chris Allen (NLA, Timebomb), Russ Morland, Danny Vermette (NLA, Timebomb), and Meghan Patterson will be on display. There will be no cover.

The other party is sponsored by GMAN & Rizk, éS Footwear, Spectrum Entertainment, and The Beat 94.5FM and will feature official Snoop Dogg/Dr.Dre/Dogg Pound DJ, DJ Jam. Also featured will be the 2004 World B-boy Champions the Massive Monkees, Vancouver’s turntablist act Kut Co, and Vancouver DJ Hedspin. The party is Saturday, May 1 at Commodore, 868 Granville Street.

Santa Cruz News

Santa Cruz announces that Tom Knox and Eric Dressen have both joined the Santa Cruz team again, this time heading up the Veterans’ Division. Their PowerLyte models feature the original Firepit and Roses graphics from 1988. Check out current Tom and Eric footage on the Strange Notes Summer 2004 DVD that will be playing in skate shops May 1.

Vans Triple Crown Dates

Here’s the schedule and venues for the Vans Triple Crown Series this summer. Highlights include a return to Cleveland after a year absence and the Vans Slam City Jam’s move this May to Vancouver’s B.C. Place, the largest air-supported domed stadium in the world.

Art Show

The Lab 101 Space in conjunction with Royal Elastics presents Streetwise 3, the third event in an ongoing series dedicated to showcasing the works of urban-influenced artists in a gallery environment.

Streetwise 3 LA will feature five unique exhibitions. There will be twenty American urban artists showcasing their art. Live DJs and painting will accompany each exhibition. Each exhibition will be on display for one month:

SITE Design

In addition to etnies, Palm Springs, Borrego, and Chino skateparks, SITE Design Group is nearing completion on the Glendale, California Verdugo skatepark, and construction is scheduled to begin on the Encinitas YMCA bowls later this month.
