PLATFORM.NET, the portal for hip hop and urban culture, has entered into an exclusive partnership with Activision, Inc. to be the official online headquarters for Activision’s highly anticipated arena fighting game Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style(TM) for the PlayStation(R) game console.
Beginning on November 17, 1999 and running through August 2000, consumers worldwide will have exclusive access to game information, hints, cheats and screenshots, and can participate in message board discussions and purchase the game from the Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style headquarters at www.platform.net.
PLATFORM.NET will serve as the exclusive host to the game’s authentic rap soundtrack including three brand new Wu-Tang Clan music tracks — the only new music from the Wu-Tang Clan for 1999.
Further reinforcing the partnership, PLATFORM.NET will support the launch of Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style by featuring the game in their national television and print advertising campaigns, which will begin appearing on November 17 on MTV and BET.
Additionally, Activision will prominently feature PLATFORM.NET in its holiday top-10 radio advertising, in-store POP and print ads that will appear in such magazines as The Source, Stress and Vice.
A multi-player arena fighting game with an urban/Kung Fu vibe, Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style challenges players to battle as one of nine Shaolin warriors from the famous rap group including RZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Method Man and Raekwon. Players battle through an intricate system of realistic 3D fighting arenas — from Staten Island to a Chinatown warehouse to a mythological Shaolin temple in ancient China. Gamers can tack their progress from arena to arena and through the 36 skill chambers of martial arts through masterful in-game cinematics.
