QUIKSILVER INTRODUCES QUIK FILMS AND KICKS OFF CONTEST FOR ASPIRING FILMMAKERS
Online Short Film Competition Open for Submissions from February 7-28
Quiksilver has a new program, Quik Films. Designed to recognize exploration, style and personal expression within the filmmaking community.
As part of the launch, Quik Films will host a short film contest for aspiring filmmakers during the month of February. Quik Films is looking for short productions that resonate with the boardriding lifestyle and the personality of the brand, but is not limiting submissions to action-based content only.
Quik Films submissions, required to be two to five minutes in length, will be judged on the basis of narrative structure, original characters and dynamic visuals. Each week during the nine-week preliminary judging period, visitors to the www.quiksilver.com/films Web site will be able to vote on the top submissions received by the February 28th deadline. The winning short film from each week will qualify for the final contest, where a winner and three runner-ups will be chosen by Quiksilver.
The Quik Films winners will be announced on the Web site at the end of the contest. The Quik Films Grand Prize winner will receive $2,500 along with an additional $2,500 to use towards the production of a new film, which will ultimately be considered for distribution by Quiksilver. The three runner-ups will each receive $2,500 for the development and production of new films.
In other Quik news, Natas Kaupas has been named Vice President of Marketing of Quiksilver Americas. Natas will oversee Quiksilver’s creative, advertising, promotion and online projects. He’ll also continue in his role as the Quiksilver Brand Global Creative Director in which he directs all Quiksilver artwork across all territories.
