IASC AND SKATELAB ANNOUNCE THE INAUGURATION OF THE WORLD’S MOST ICONIC SKATEBOARDERS TO THE SKATEBOARDING HALL OF FAME
The Inaugural Celebration and Fundraiser to Honor and Induct Pro Skateboarders from Four Decades
October 24, 2009 is a date that is sure to go down in history. The International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) will join hundreds from the skate community to honor and induct skateboarding icons; Bruce Logan, Tony Alva, Tony Hawk and Danny Way; into the Skateboard Hall of Fame at the official inaugural celebration.
“Skateboarding has grown up, and not in a bad way - we can look back and be proud of the history of our sport,” said John Bernards, executive director of IASC. “Taking the opportunity to acknowledge and honor the individuals who have so greatly influenced and shaped the industry allows us to look forward to the future of skateboarding without ever forgetting our roots and everything it took to get where we are today – each and every shenanigan, triumph and challenge.”
The Vans Skatepark at the Block in Orange, CA, will host the historical, invite-only event. In addition to a live musical performance, guests will enjoy cocktails and appetizers and have the opportunity to bid on a large selection of invaluable memorabilia at both a silent and live auction. Proceeds from ticket sales and auction items will benefit the Go Skateboarding Foundation. The non-profit organization provides positive educational experiences, career-minded programming, and scholarships for skateboarders. The foundation also donates to various skateboard-related charities, including: The Tony Hawk Foundation, Ray Underhill, the Johnny Romano Foundation, and the Patrick Kerr Foundation.

I agree!!! How could they have something called, "Skateboarding Hall of Fame" and not have Rodney Mullen at the forefront? Without Rodney, how could Danny have done all of those switch flips on vert he was known for? This is just ridiculous!!!! I hate to sound like I'm humping Mullen's leg, i just feel it's a blow to a pioneer in Skateboarding. Danny Way should've come after his nomination… That's my two dimes.

So I suppose there's no real need to include a street pioneer (Gonz, Mullen ect). Makes sense i suppose, its not like people really skate street any more!!!

Well … let's wait and see, because the Gonz and Mullen could be inducted as well. Even if are included later that would not take away from their rightful place and their accomplishments!!!
