(Huntington Beach, CA) SPLIT, a board-sport clothing company, and Woodward Camp, the premier skateboarding and BMX camp, will be selling “Woodward Camp” T-Shirts to retail stores beginning in Spring 2000. Split will establish a scholarship fund with a percentage of all proceeds from Woodward t-shirt sales. The fund is intended to support and facilitate the training of future skate and BMX riders at Woodward.
In addition, hangtags on the Woodward T-shirts will include Woodward camp information, registration instructions, photos of professional riders, and scholarship fund applications.
The T-Shirts are similar to those sold to Camp attendees this past summer. Shirts will be offered in Navy, Red, Yellow and White. Suggested retail is $17.50.
Located in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania, Woodward is dedicated to providing an aggressive training program and a facility that serves as a catalyst for making the perfect rider. Top-notch, modern facilities, and radical training ideas are incorporated with only the best pros, to give one an experience unmatched anywhere in the world.
“With help from Split and our ‘Family’ of professional riders supporting the Woodward Scholarship Program, we hope to offer even more young people the unique and wonderful experience of Woodward Camp.” says Gary Ream, owner of Woodward Camp.
Ryan Nyquist, top BMX rider states “It’s so cool that Woodward and Split are giving back to the kids that support us with the scholarship fund.”
“The Split scholarship fund program is the best thing to happen to kids since Woodward opened it’s doors to skateboarding years ago. ” says Andy Macdonald, pro skateboarder and long-time Woodward attendee.
SPLIT rose out of the California Central Coast in 1989 in the wake of the mid-80’s skateboarding boom. College-friends David Patri, Scott VanDerripe, and Scott Bailey founded the company to combine each of their talents and love for skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and music. With a clothing line that spans throughout each board-sport, SPLIT offers everything from board shorts, denim & cargo pants, and specialty tops. SPLIT is currently sold in over 1,100 specialty stores in the USA, through 10 distributors worldwide, and licensed in Australia.
