Stoked:The Rise And Fall Of Gator – Opens Friday, September 5th at Landmark’s Ken Cinema
Six years in the making, Helen Stickler’s documentary charts the rise of skateboarding culture in the 1980s and the trappings of success. The film is framed against the life of the era’s most revered professional skater: Mark’Gator’ Rogowski, now serving thirty-one years to life in prison for rape and murder. A mix of jaw dropping skate boarding footage, music and interviews with some of the legends of the sport (including Tony Hawk, SteveCaballero and Lance Mountain), Stoked is social commentary steeped in ’80s nostalgia.
