Who: Curt Kimbel, Badlands 70’s pro (who turns 50 this summer and still skates regularly), So. Cal transplant, now living in Maryland (Curt is an environmental-mechanical engineer working to develop a new generation of jet aircraft engines which will be quieter, more efficient and less polluting) started MASS 5 years ago to promote skating throughout the Mid Atlantic (the Eastern US from NY south to Georgia). With classes for every age, gender, skill level and skating style, combined with a low stress yet high energy jam session format, and an army of dedicated volunteers, MASS has evolved and grown beyond expectations and is now possibly the largest amateur skate series in the country, drawing skaters and their families from all over the East Coast and Mid West. MASS provides skaters opportunities to get together with friends, skate hard, and gain recognition among their peers. The series brings the entire skate community together, is something to look forward to each year, and motivates skaters to continually improve…and it’s a lot of fun!
