Quattro Wheel Company announces Javier Sarmiento and Robbie McKinley to the team.

Aaron Suski is in “cali” right now on a filming trip for the Emerica video, “This is Skateboarding”. I can’t wait to see Aaron part in the video. Heck, the whole video is gonna rock!

Emerica teammates Andrew Reynolds, Erik Ellington, Tosh Townend, Kevin Long (Spanky) and Bryan Herman returned home from Barcelona, Spain recently. Although Herman and Spanky were limping from one sort of injury or another, the boys had a great time skating new spots and collecting footage for This is Skateboarding. The final straggler of the bunch, Ed Templeton, returned home a few days later.

Mike Chin, not Buck Chin the realtor or Nancy Chin the manicurist, rides for the Firm.

Fabrizio Santos left New Deal to ride for Shorty’s wood.

Jackass the Movie is finally releasing on OCT 25th. I assume this will open in more theaters across the country than did the Dogtown film. There is still no word on a release date for Bam Margera’s “Haggard”.

Lisa Marie Presley rented out the Skate Lab this past weekend for her 10 year old son. No Michael Jackson, but Steve Berra was on hand to give some lessons. Lisa even took a lesson herself from Steve. It’s always refreshing to see involved parents. Other recent celebrity sightings include Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons from KISS!

In a surprising move Anthony Mosely has left Bootleg and is rumored to be on Shorty’s. J Strickland had this to say. “Numerous altercations with the rest of the team and filmers have made it in Bootleg’s best interest to part ways with Anthony! We wish him and his new sponsor whoever that may be good luck! This has actually had a very positive effect on the rest of the team feeling as they have weeded out the weakest link. Boot will have 2 new pros in 2003 along with the bootleg3000 video which will also introduce two new ams which are carefully being picked as we speak!”

Anthony Mosley, the newest Krux rider, was caught skating recently. The cops took his footage and he had to go to court three times. The verdict; Anthony has to buy the city of Monrovia a nine stair handrail for 500$. For that kind of money he should be able to keep the old rail and skate the new one.

Bootleg’s Scott Kane has been on a hammer mission lately. Rumor has him kickflip frontside noseblunting rails.

Ragdoll does not ride for Phantom Trucks!!! I stand corrected.

Patrick Melcher is twisting and shouting lately with all the coverage he’s been getting. Las month he inadvertently broke his boss’s wife’s ankle. John Lucero’s, his wife, Patrick and others from Black Label were enjoying Matt Hensley’s band. The bone crusher was dancing with the newlywed at this Flogging Molly show near POKEZ in San Diego. He picked her up for a twirl and a swing. Patrick set her down and he sees her fall to a lump on the ground. The result is one broken foot. Beware of the bone crusher.

Jerry Hsu rides for Revolution Wheels. Strike up another Tilt Mode member on the REV.

88 Footwear has signed Neil Blender to the team. Think of him as a special guest. He’ll have a limited edition shoe appearing in early 2003. Also he’ll have his own art segment on the 88 website in the near future. www.88footwear.com

Duane Peters has joined Black Label under the RED CROSS line of wood, which includes John Lucero, Jeff Grosso, Neil Blender and Steve Olson.<>

Paul Rodriguez has been on a fiery filming mission, trying to get a whole part down for the upcoming Girl video, Yeah Right. He also recently bought the house he grew-up in from his dad. “Why move?” thought Paul (he’s turning eighteen soon), so he gave his parents some cash and put the house under his own name.

Paul is also getting a pay check from FKD bearings as of late..

PJ Ladd is heading out to California, where he may be spotted in SF filming and skating with Joe Brook and the most amazing videographer ever, éS team manager Tony Evjenth. Wait till you see Tony’s moves! Man, can he point that camera! Go Hank Go!

The PJ Ladd DVD with tons of bonus footage should be in store by the end of November.

Mike Taylor is now on MATIX Clothing.

Tony Trujillo, Tony Manfre and Steve Nesser ride for Black Magic Griptape and Shorty’s Hardware.

Matt Pailes rides for Shorty’s Hardware and Black Panthers Bearings.

Alex Chalmers is no longer on Bones Wheels.

Someone at Foundation has an eye for talent, cause all of the F am boys are out there! In particular is Leo Romero. This kid came from the Inland Empire and is destroying the coast. Did you get a gander of him at the Coup D’etat? He tied with Jon Allie and took half of the 3rd place prize money. Leo also donated 15% of his winnings. Maybe he will buy a car with the rest?

Antiz from France is filming for the upcoming video that should be out in Summer 2003. New riders include Steve Forstner, Julien Bachelier, and Ben The.

Globe announced the addition of Chet Thomas to the Globe apparel team. Thomas joins fellow teammate and Canadian-born skater Paul Machnau.

Daniel Shimizu decided to get out of LA and is finally moving closer to Foundation Headquarters. As a matter of fact he’s moving right next door to Justin Roy and Chris Jones.

Blues Skateboard Products has a new website up at www.Blues02.com . More updates on it soon!

Mike Rusczyk is back to 100% after a 9 month time out from knee surgery and has been killing it, and will have a part in the upcoming video due out in April.

Phil Ladjanski is now officially on the Hollywood team. He goes by the nickname Skinny.

Billy Marks blunt-slid a huge hubba over the weekend out in the Inland Empire to wrap-up an interview. Billy also celebrated his twentieth birthday last week. No longer a teenager, he’s now fully a man-and skating like one too.

Josh Harmony is back from Chicago and on a rampage. All he wants to do is skate and get things done. Leaving town for non-skate reasons really cleared his head. Josh is back in a refreshed state of mind, ready to shred, and is on a mission right now to shoot an ad for his clothing sponsor, RVCA. They want to give him an ad because he’s doing an amazing job right now at rolling away from tricks. He just recently finished his Revolution wheels ad, so look out for that to hit the magazines soon. Other than that, Josh has been skating different skateparks to train on different terrain and obstacles, as well as filming for the upcoming Toy Machine video.

Zered Bassett just got offered to go on an amazing trip to eight cities all throughout Europe from October 28 to November 26 with photographer Joe Brook and filmer Anthony Clarvall for a big article. Others on the trip include Rob G, Montoya, Caswell Berry, Kenny Reed, Jerry Hsu and Louie Barletta.

Luy-Pa SIN now rides for the new french brand, Mekanism skateboards. He was formerly on Neighborhood skateboards. His first pro model on Mekanism will be available in November.

Josh Evin just got on Premium. He is traveling in Australia this month. Morgan Campbell has also joined forces on the Premium team. Josh and Morgan: models well be out at ASR Long Beach FEB 2003. Look out for their video parts in the Premium video “Unfazed”.

Visit www.globeshoes.com to win Collector’s Edition Shoes, a chance to skate with Chet Thomas, plus a $1,000 shopping spree.

VIDEO:

The Zero premiere for “Dying to Live” at Spreckels Theater in San Diego was riddled with problems and ultimately shut down by the police. Thousands of diehard fans were disappointed.

Here’s the inside scoop as told by Black Box General Manager, Chad Foreman:

“Spreckels was supposed to have 30 security people working the event, and only 3 showed up which was definitely not enough. At 7 p.m. the main lady at Spreckels asked us when we were going to start letting people in and I said we (meaning Mirko, Nick and myself) are going to go outside and make 2 lines; 1 for people with tickets and 1 for people without. As we make our way to the door, she follows and when we open the door to the outside she says “Ok, everyone can come in now”. Obviously you can’t yell that to a bunch of anxious skateboard kids waiting to see the Zero video. The kids rushed her, the door and Mirko pushing all of them through the 1 inch thick glass and shattering it all over everyone. Mirko and the 4 kids got a few minor scratches but the damage was done. The cops showed up in full riot gear and pushed everyone around, threatened to take

Mirko Nick and myself to jail a few times and told me the industry we’re in was nothing but garbage. The Spreckels manager let us grab 250 people, mostly friends, family and team riders, and said that’s all that could come in, anymore and he was closing it down. Unfortunately Mumford, Rattray and Jon Allie’s whole family didn’t make it in and Lopez left before it started because of the poor situation. The next day Active in San Dimas had a premiere and I heard about 300 people showed for that. On Sunday the whole team left for the world tour, safe and sound.” You heard it here first! The video should be in shops on or right after Halloween. A DVD will follow and hopefully be ready for Christmas.

CKY4 is in the works. We hope to see it in shops by Christmas. It actually premiered in Cleveland during the Gravity Games in August.

The new Supernaut video, URBAN CANVAS is premiering at shops all over the country on Nov. 2nd. San Jose’s is going off thanks to Circle A. Overload Skateboarding in San Diego is handling the Southern California premiere. Check www.systems-dist.com for a complete list of shops in the country having a premiere.

Digital Skateboarding premiered their latest film, INVASION, at Volcom on Oct 2nd. It should be in stores by end of October. This video is sure to satisfy any skateboarder’s cravings with the incredible talents of seventeen year old wonder boy Greg Lutzka. Forrest Kirby holds it down for the East coast with his unique style and presicion technical abilitys. Jake Brown brings vert skating to a new level. Putting the icing on the cake is Mark Appleyard. Too smooth, too much control, too perfect. Guest starring Billy Marks, Paul Machnau, Brandon Biebel, Diego Buchieri, Paul Rodriguez and many more. Also inside you can see if the rumors of the El Toro twenty stair rail switch assault are true?

Mike V is starting on his new project-a video called Greatest Hits. This appropriately named flick is going to be a compilation of all of Mike’s fight scenes that he has on tape. Last week, Mike even ventured out e available in November.

Josh Evin just got on Premium. He is traveling in Australia this month. Morgan Campbell has also joined forces on the Premium team. Josh and Morgan: models well be out at ASR Long Beach FEB 2003. Look out for their video parts in the Premium video “Unfazed”.

Mike V is starting on his new project-a video called Greatest Hits. This appropriately named flick is going to be a compilation of all of Mike’s fight scenes that he has on tape. Last week, Mike even ventured out to Bam Margera’s house in Philly to get some footage that Bam has of Mike beating up four guys.

Climax Distribution has a video under works. It documents Sixteen, Tracker, and Lib Tech’s East coast summer tour named ‘Minor’s Threat’. It should be available by the end of the year.

Foundation is constructing a new tour video. The 29 Days of Madness and Mayhem video is a tour video from the highly successful Foundation California tour. There will be lots of footy from the tour plus some other things they’ve gathered since then. Plans are for it to be out by Christmas.

The Premium team is busy filming for their video called “Unfazed” out for Spring

2003. Even after hard hits from the bigger companies, Premium is Unfazed by

all situations that occurs on it’s path. Josh Evin rips!

EVENTS:

The 2002 Damn Am Finals are rapidly approaching this Oct 25-27 at the Volcom warehouse in Costa Mesa. The street contest is full and a waiting list has been started for all the slackers. Vert has 41 spots left. There is plenty of room for spectating and it’s free, so come on out to watch the cream of the crop compete. www.damnam.com

The 2nd Annual Strawberry Bowl Bash was Saturday, October 19, 2002. I’m waiting to hear result.

Chris Senn won the street segment of the Vans Triple Crown Finals in Oceanside. Senor Bob Burnquist dominated the vert contest. Both lucky fellows took home $18,000.

The much anticipated JAY ADAMS UNDERGROUND POOL DUEL will be postponed until JAY can be there. Since JAY is still on probation, he probably will

not be able to leave the islands for a few months. But, that will just give more time to seek out new never-before-ridden pools, get more $$$ from sponsors for prize money, and to fine tune the list of invitees.

Attend the 9th annual Tampa Am Contest or 9th annual Pro Contest and help celebrate the SPoT’s 10 Year Anniversary as a skate park.

*Tampa Am – January 17 – 19, 2003

*Ten Year Anniversary Party – Friday, January 17, 2003

*Tampa Pro – March 14 – 16, 2003
