Tommy Guerrero on tour

Quannum Comes Alive on West Coast Tour featuring Curumin, Tommy Guerrero and Honeycut

Want some new school Quannum jams all in one place? Well, you best head the West Coast way. Late this September, Quannum launches a live extravaganza from San Diego up to Seattle, featuring the dazzling line-up of Curumin, Tommy Guerrero and Honeycut.

Brazilian stunner Curumin and his band from São Paulo color up a blend of dreamy samba funk, psych, dub and afro-beat with Hawaiian shirts and a warm, breezy latin vibe. Curumin’s voice recalls the greatest of soul singers, and he keeps his hands busy between the drums and cavaco (Brazilian ukulele). With backing drums, percussion, MPC, bass and keys, the sounds from Curumin’s debut Achados e Perdidos (Quannum Projects/ 2005) resonate with ambitious results.

Guitar hero Tommy Guerrero captivates you with a set that plays out like a grand love affair with instruments. The stage reverberates with infectious rhythms and pulsing, hypnotic riffs. Joined by friends on drums, keys and guitar, Guerrero spontaneously paints a portrait of his muse, the city of San Francisco. He will be previewing some delightfully heavy funk from his forthcoming Quannum debut From The Soil To The Soul, due out October 10, 2006.

Fellow Bay Area band Honeycut fills the room with a rich orchestra of vintage keys and MPC beats. Honeycut’s startlingly unique sound is a modern incarnation of Motown and 80s pop. Live they are a wonder– Bart Davenport charms at center stage with serenading vocals and Jagger-like swerves, keyboardist RV Salters moves about like an over-caffeinated Herbie Hancock and Tony Sevener impressively displays the use of the MPC as a fully live instrument. “Shadows, the first single from their debut The Day I Turned To Glass is already tearing up commercial radio on the West coast. The album will be released September 26, 2006 on Quannum.
