In response to the tremendous success of the Vans Skate Park at The Block in Orange, California, Vans Inc, has announced construction plans for its third and world’s largest skate park. This park, currently under construction at the Ontario Mills shopping center in Ontario, California, reflects the company’s commitment to the skating lifestyle.
Tentatively scheduled to open November 1 of this year, the 60,000 square foot facility will feature a specially designed skating are unique to this park. The announcement comes on the heels of the successful grand opening of the Vans Skate Park in Bakersfield, California on August 1, 1999.
Features designed specifically for the Vans Skate Park in Ontario include three-in-ground cement bowls, the world’s first indoor snake run with a bowl, an intermediate bowl, and a pee-wee egg-shaped bowl. The 20,000 square foot indoor street course is designed to flow so you can skate a line from any direction, and there will be an expanded area for the pee-wee and beginning skaters.
Additional features of the Vans Skate Park in Ontario include 40′ tall ceilings, a mezzanine area that suspends through the middle of the park, a Gameworks interactive area, and a retail shop.
The Vans Skate Park in Ontario is one of five new Vans Skate Parks currently slated to open. Future skate parks include facilities in the San Francisco Bay area, which is scheduled to open in the next nine months, with skate parks also planned for Orlando, Florida, a suburb of Washington D.C. in Virginia, and Toronto, Canada.
