On Saturday October 4th, the Len Moore Chula Vista Skatepark held a grand opening to celebrate the opening of the largest skatepark in San Diego. The event went from 3:00 in the afternoon until 6:00 p.m. The Osiris team came out and shredded the virgin park, after which, they signed some autographs and premiered their new video entitled, Subject To Change.

Tony Mag was there, but he wasn’t catching real big air—just some stylish backside Smiths and some inverts. He may snake you, but Tony still rips regardless!

A friend of mine who just moved out from Ohio came along for the park opening festivities. His name is Mario and I made him navigate. So, on the way down we got a little lost and found ourselves detouring to the Monster Pool. Would you call that lost, or strategically drifted? Seriously though, not one gas station attendant had a clue as to any skatepark opening or directions to the road that it was located on. Maybe it was because Mario was pronouncing the road, “Orlander, instead of Oleander. Welcome to Southern California Mario. We eventually arrived just before 5:00 p.m.

Dave Coyne, Kanten Russel, Ryan Bodman, Brandon Turner, and James Brockman were all there. They had a crowd of over 500 people watching them as they ripped it up. It was nice to see the support of the whole community there—people of all ages came out and gazed in amazement at what can be done on a skateboard.

As the park closed, everyone filtered inside to where the Osiris video was being premiered. Mario needed to go back to the pool, so we ditched out and he got a good 30 minutes in before the darkness settled in.
