CPH Open 2016 Day 4

Last day of Copenhagen Open and it was a big one. Skating in city hall, pro contest, death race, and best trick over a floating boat. It was pretty amazing being allowed to skate in city hall, where Luan Oliveira took first and Evan Smith took second. Then we went outside for the fastest flip trick. This was pretty crazy to watch, seeing as so many people just flew and slid if they didn’t land it. Madars Apse won this one with a 28 mph kickflip. Luan was close with a 17 mph switch big heel and a 20 mph backside flip! Moving on to the pro contest with three-skater jams for four minutes each; everyone killed it. Nyjah Huston won first place, Luan Oliveira with second and Axel Cruysberghs coming in third; it was a close contest. Then was everyone’s favorite, the death race. After multiple knock out rounds of two it came down to Alex Olson and Kevin Baekkel, and Kevin won. When we went outside for the best trick, a bank to bank over water, they brought out a boat to go over; as if the water didn’t make it sketchy enough! Nyjah knocked out a tre flip in just a couple of tries, but right at the end Hermann Stene won first place with a backside 360.—Mikey Gould
