I worked my ass off for five months to work up a sophisticated piece with Danny. It tackles the issue of why the East Coast skaters are not getting the same exposure as the West Coast guys, and what is going on besides the obvious that is stopping them. With the questions asked, and Danny’s wisdom, I believe the everlasting question was answered. Thank you and enjoy.—Ben Duffy, The Coast filmer/editor

A documentary on why East coast skaters don’t get enough coverage…funny how it only contained West coast skate footage.

i agree man i think this whole thing was very stupid it was just a way for the west coast to show the east coast how much better they are and to just push it in basically

Danny is one of the most down-to-earth pro’s I’ve ever meet.
I like the quote “A closed mouth doesn’t get feed”.

I disagree with all the hating toward this video, Ben did an awesome job and it was totally sick, I think when people say ” if this is an east coast documentary then why is all the footage in Cali” it means that they really weren’t listening or even watching the video, Ben and Danny are both from NY and it’s about how it’s difficult for the east coast skaters to come up, and the reason why there is California footage is because he did it in california he wasn’t trying to make the point that east coast skaters are better compared to this west coast footage, I also think that if you say this video is garbage then do something about it and if you didn’t like it then you do something better,
On a side note we are all skaters so drop the hating already

why is the interviewer reading from cards?
“dont want to be part of the cali scene”
i thought the goal was to be able to be and skate anywhere.
you’re not a sell out danny. (shecks is a sellout)

true skaters are from ny bitches

I started skating when Zoo and the NY scene were pretty small. Jason Dill was well known and I think Keenan Milton was from there too, but there were only a few big guys. I always wondered why at first, but the reality is, the skating wasn’t as good. As the video said it might have been harder, but running a mag you use the best stuff.
I remember Danny specifically would get photos and it seemed like he only made it because they wanted NY coverage. His stuff just wasn’t as good as other people’s stuff. Switch fs big spin down 7 in Transworld? I’m not trying to hate on Danny, I really like his style, but he never had hammers, that’s just a fact.
The NY footage and photos you’d see just weren’t nearly as good as west coast stuff. It wasn’t until Kerry Getz and Kalis and those guys started getting good and Workshop and Habitat got strong that the skating really reached the top level like the west coast.

He’s right. West coast skaters for the most part are able to skate year round in good weather. The east coast gets stuck with cold, ice, snow etc.. and atleast in cali i know we have alot more skateparks, skate plazas etc.. NYC is all rough street and almost everything worth skating is a bust.
