Ever wonder who was popular in 2011? Have you spent countless hours arguing with your friends or with the skate nerds at your local shop about who’s really more marketable than who? Well, we compiled the Top 10 skaters that you searched for on skateboarding.com. Click on through to find out who had you scouring the internet for their photos and videos.

10. Dylan Rieder

Dylan graced our September 2011 cover after joining the TransAm OGs on the Return To Oz tour earlier in the year. You voted him your Readers’ Choice in this year’s Skate Awards. Another pinnacle year for one of skateboarding’s most good looking on and off the board.

9. Chaz Ortiz

The young Zoo York pro killed it in contests and in our park. He had a breakthrough ad campaign with Gatorade as well which no doubt put him on this list.

8. Ryan Sheckler

As expected, Ryan was seemingly everywhere in 2011. In the mags, sprinkling clips on the Web, and constantly touring the globe. Ryan dropped this gnarly video part which could’ve probably gotten him on this list alone.

7. Torey Pudwill

Torey had yet another stellar year. He ripped up our park in 60 Minutes and took home our Best Street Skater of the year at the 2011 Skate Awards.

6. Tom Asta

2011 was a big year for Tom. He went pro, dropped a video part, and had his first shoe come out. It only took him a couple hours to knock out multiple features in our park, too. A true natural who’s here to stay.

5. Nyjah Huston

No one on this list had a more triumphant year than Nyjah. Getting back on Element, two TWS covers, winning contests, and then dropping a truly face-melting part on 11.11.11. And he just turned 17.

4. Nick Trapasso

Nick may have not been all up in your face in 2011, but what he put out always keeps us wanted more. He graced our cover in March with a Pro Spotlight art directed by then-boss Ed Templeton. Since then, Nick split with Toy Machine and will be unveiling some board sponsor news in the new year (we think).

3. Lizard King

Lizard King is always a fan favorite and is no stranger to lists like this. Truth be told, Lizard didn’t have much coverage in our mag or on our site in 2011, but as with all things surrounding this reptilian ripper, it’s best left unexplained. He did, however, do an amazing job hosting our Skate Awards this year with Brian Schaefer.

2. Chris Cole

Chris Cole made headlines in 2011 with his switch to DC Shoes and then launching his own clothing brand, Omit. He continues to annihilate any skateable terrain in his path (he’s a regular in the TWS Park) and is well on his way to legend status.

1. Sean Malto

Sean Malto has proven himself to truly be the golden child that people refer to him as. He won the big Street League finale, took on our Archival Challenge and 60 Minutes in his own park, and we’re sensing a pattern here—he was last year’s number one too! Can’t wait for his Girl part and whatever else he’s got planned for us in 2012.
