Poor Specimen Productions and Hurley International are proud to announce their skateboard documentary, Hallowed Ground, won the ESPN Action Sports Video of the Year Award. The awards took place on April 13, 2002 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, and the ceremony will air on ESPN April 16 at 8:30 PM PDT.

Hallowed Ground was nominated by action sports industry members. The list of nominees was posted and people from all over the United States logged on the Web site to cast their votes for Video of the Year. Besides Hallowed Ground, other movies nominated for the award were CKY3, Propaganda and Crusty Demons 7. Director Scott Soens and producer Taylor Steele accepted the award for Hallowed Ground.

“When I approached Bob Hurley about making a movie featuring the Hurley International skateboarding team, I never dreamed it would win the Video of the Year award,” said Scott Soens, director. “The movies we were up against were all great, and to be nominated with them is an honor. We?re happy that people recognize that Hallowed Ground is a great story about the heart of skateboarding.”

“Receiving this award for Hallowed Ground is just the icing on the cake,” said Taylor Steele, producer. “Working with a talented director like Scott and great athletes like the Hurley skate team was the real honor. We are very proud every person who worked on this project, and thank our fellow nominees, and everyone who voted for us.”

Hallowed Ground features skaters Bob Burnquist, Diego Bucchiere, Kris Markovich, Steve Berra, Mike Vallely, Rodrigo TX, Lincoln Ueda and the rest of the Hurley International Skateboarding Team. Shot entirely in 16mm film, Hallowed Ground offers an intimate look into the lives of riders, as well as incredible skate footage. The soundtrack includes Jack Johnson, Dread Lion, G. Love, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. Hallowed Ground is available exclusively through Steelehouse Distribution.
