Automatic Magazine’s Battle Of The Shops
When: May 22nd, 2004
Where: Adio Footwear Headquarters
5830 El Camino Real
Carlsbad, CA 92008 (1/2 block north of Palomar Airport Rd on El Camino Real)

Adio Footwear is set to host Automatic magazine’s First Annual Battle of the Shops Skate Jam. The event will take place on May 22, 2004. The contest was devised to give 20 of Southern California’s best skate shops the opportunity to showcase their amateur skateboard talent and to decide which shop has the best overall amateur team.

The unique jam style format of the contest focuses on four obstacles; the historic San Dieguito rail (provided by Innes), a transition setup, a double-set gap, and a tech center. Michael Migdol, editor of Automatic magazine, explains, “The four obstacles were chosen to represent the four main spheres of skateboarding. We are asking shops to pick one rider to represent them on each obstacle.”

The winning shop will receive a full-page color ad in an upcoming issue of Automatic and each member of the winning team will be featured in that same issue. Adio Shoes is offering the winning shop a 1000 dollar store credit. Independent will give the winning shop team a monthly product package for a year. Other sponsors include Innes, Girl, Chocolate, Tum Yeto, Skaterade, Silver Trucks, Lost, Planet Earth, Blind, Fyasko, World Industries, Sullen, Dragon Eyewear, Air America EOG, Soul, and Split. Wahoo’s Fish Tacos will provide food.
