College Scholarships For Skateboarders Announced

The first college scholarship fund for skateboarders has been created. The Patrick Kerr Skateboard Scholarship will provide funding for four scholarships. The fund is named in memory of fifteen year old Patrick Kerr, an honor student and devoted skateboarder.

To apply for the scholarship, students must complete the essay question, ?How has skateboarding been a positive influence in your life?? The scholarship is open to high school seniors who have bee accepted to a two- or four-year accredited college or technical school. Special consideration will be given to students who have been actively involved in the development of a community skatepark.

The awards consist of one 5,000 dollar scholarship and three 1,000 dollar scholarships. Each winner also receives a back to school package of skate clothing and gear. Application deadline is April 20, 2003.
