USA’s Beast of The East Am Champs 5

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (October 7, 2002) — The United Skateboard Association (USA) and Ecko Unlimited present the fifth annual Beast of The East Championship. The Beast of The East Championship will be held at Drop In Skatepark in Upper Saddle River, NJ, November 2 — 3, 2002.

“The Beast of The East Series has helped locate and develop a lot of top amateur talent over the last five years, says USA’s Founder T. Eric Monroe. “These skaters are among the top amateurs in the country ready to do battle to become this years Beast of The East Champion.

The Beast of The East Championship 5 will be at the brand new Drop In Skatepark in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Last years champion, 15-year old Willy “Wildman Akers of Delaware, will be defending his crown against other top amateurs that qualified during the12-stop 2002 Beast of The East Contest series.

The top finalist from the Beast of The East Championship will go on to compete against other amateurs from throughout the world at “stAMpede, the first ever international invitational amateur championship in Houston, TX, taking place February 2003.

Founded in 1998 The United Skateboard Association (USA) hosts two amateur skateboard series, the Beast of The East and the GROM contest series. The GROM series was started in 2001 to focus on the 6 to 13 year old beginner and intermediate skateboarders, while the Beast of The East focuses its efforts on the top amateur talent among the 15 — 22 year olds. In addition to organizing contest series, the USA partnered with other national and international skateboard organizations in early September 2002 to form a world governing body for amateur skateboarding.
